CuteMarkEd - Simple markdown editor

#1 Post by webfork »

It's been mentioned a few times so I thought I'd give it a separate thread. The program has not seen any development activity since 2016, but I still seem to find a use for this at least once a month.

The base (ZIP) version, as smaragdus noted last year, is not portable. Writes to HKCU\Software\CuteMarkEd Project\

The PA version is of course portable: https://portableapps.com/apps/office/cu ... d-portable

Quick update here: most of what I was using CuteMarkEd to solve has mostly been replaced by the (non portable) Zettlr. Specifically a super easy import from numerous formats including HTML, DOCX, ODT, and others into Markdown. It will also easily export to HTML right from the context menu.

The program is far from perfect (absurd system resource requirements for a text editor) but it does a few things really, really well. It's come close to unseating my editor of choice for like 10 years, Notepad++.
