Background: Had a need for a program to record what was running through my soundcard so I tested this out. The site claims it'll record Skype Audio calls, which is more than my needs so I gave it a test.Soft4Boost Any Audio Record is free software that can record audio from any source. A simple user-friendly interface makes work with Any Audio Record easy and convenient.
Two problems:
- It didn't work. Even the installed version was only able to pick up my microphone rather than activity going through my sound card. This was on a fairly standard Lenovo machine so I really can't suggest further testing of the program.
- The portability test screwed up - my installation collided with another test (whoops) so this whole thing was a wash. I may come back to it at some point in the future. Don't think it's portable due to the installation to "\Program Files\Common Files".
Test 1: I ran uniextract. Got a "class not registered" when I ran {app}\S4BAnyAudioRecord.exe
Test 2: installation, copy to a separate folder, then run.
Throws a bunch of stuff in common files and requests you install Visual C++ redistributable.
Nice bit: lots of support for various codecs, including VBR
License: adware (just lists a big banner for their software)
