The nightly builds are pretty much stable. There isn't really a point on waiting for release builds for this project. If you want the latest one, just get the nightly.

At the very least, you can still update the codecs for mpc-hc by replacing the LAVFilters binaries yourself.
hi
do you mean download the MPC-BE.1.5.2.3148.x64.7z (for example) form here https://sourceforge.net/projects/mpcbe/ ... 29%20beta/
and copy all the codec insided

Code: Select all

MPC HomeCinema\LAVFilters64
?

but does somebody why media player classic home cimena is no more developed?
thanks

Get them from the official repository instead.

Because the project no longer has developers left.

The unofficial MPC-HC 1.7.14 is on latest build of LAVFilters v0.70.2-88. So updating not necessary at the moment. Get the nightly builds of LAVFilters here http://files.1f0.de/lavf/nightly/ but zipped archives are not provided. Will need to UniExtract the installer. Then drop the binaries in the folder you mentioned. The Github stable version is updated like twice a year so its outdated and there's been quite a few fixes since the last release.

MPC-BE on the other hand does not use LAVFilters at all. It uses its own internal codecs which is still mostly based on FFMPEG so there's minor differences. You can still install LAVFilters externally and use it for any media player if you want.

Kinda like what happened with FFDSHOW, no developers and lack of interest and Clsid is the hero just maintaining it and trying to keep it alive until its last dying breath. Read the previous thread about the future of mpc-hc https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=174738

No, they're not "legit". They are unofficial updates, not made by the original MPC-HC development team.

If you want to use MPC-HC with up-to-date decoders, using those unofficial updates are your best option.

These are still unofficial updates, not listed in https://mpc-hc.org/

I'm opposed to switching the TPFC entry over to the unofficial updates. The topic at least needs to be thoroughly discussed here before doing it.

In fact, I'm a bit surprised that the domain hasn't been handed over to clsid. There isn't much reason for the former development team to keep it.

Thanks for the update notice, giulia

We try to point to the natively portable version before the PA version whenever there's a choice between the two. There is a thread discussing this policy.

Coincidentally, I started using the unofficial MPC-HC by clsid last week and it loads way faster than VLC Portable.

Also, MPC-HC's interface is way easier to customize than VLC. You can show or hide almost any toolbar you want. With VLC, you can't even hide the menu bar!
is it stealth? ;)
