looking for an application to do this...

#1 Post by 123 »

you know, you have certain strings of text which you have to type over and over again, like email addresses, email responses..
i'm looking for an application which can store these templates, and which can type them automatically or paste them to the clipboard, whenever i want
typing the same thing over and over again is very tedious, is there an app which can do this?

PowerPro or anything with "snipplets" in name.
PowerPro actually types the letters where you want to have them.

Powerpro is indeed very good

But you can also try PhraseExpress: http://www.phraseexpress.com/

Watch this demo: http://www.phraseexpress.com/demo.htm

There is a USB stick version in the download section :wink:

You could try AutoHotkey or ClipX with the permanent plugin.

I don't think that AHK is a good advice. If the OP knew it, it wouldn't ask and learning a programming language to do something that can be accomplished with a few clicks is not a good idea.

Another alternative could be:

"Clipboard Help+Spell is a text-based clipboard utility with the following features:
Database stores history of all past text clipboard entries for easy viewing, modification, and search
Use it for keeping hierarchical notes - search, sort, filter by text, modification date, last view date
Super easy and super fast search function - or use complex filters if you need them - you'll never have a problem finding a note again!
Organize your notes and clips any way you want - show them all or view by group or category; view your clips any way you like
High-quality spellcheck - underlined mistakes; learning spellchecker
Configurable hotkeys for common functions
Powerful text formatting options - make your own presets for common functions
Simple functions for copying and pasting into and out of other applications"

Extract with Universal Extractor then open "ConfigDir.ini" and edit it to look like this:

Code: Select all

CONFIGDIR=.
PORTABLE=true

Without you needing to code AHK yourself, Lifehacker.com has produced Texter in AHK, which is a small, portable, app to allow repeated use of text using shortcuts.
