U3 question

#1 Post by JohnW »

Just wanted to ask a 'newbie' type question.

There are a few portable applications which are stated to be U3 applications.

Do these run ok on a standard (non-U3) flash-drive?
Is there any tweak I have to do?

Thanks in anticipation.

U3 can be a pain

I have U3 powered Sandisk Flash Drives

I have had the loading system software crash on me

twice. When that happens you can't use the drive at all

You can't install the U3 system files

All your programs are lost so also the data

The only way you can possibly use the drive is by totally

uninstalling the U3 smart file and re-formatting the flash drive

So now I have my FDs bereft of the system software

So now I am without the benefit of password protecting the FD

With the use of autostart program and the toolbox program

I am able to run various programs that I want to run

you could have left the u3 on and disable the autorun, then when you want it click the u3 launcher and the menu will start

Try PStart for U3

Try PStart for U3 by Pegtop

it will launch the U3 apps and run them and it doesn't have the U3 launchers problems

and then as has already been suggested by MiDoJo disable the auto-run for the U3 launcher

I have tried this Menu and it works great even on computers in a lock-down that specifically prevents the U3 menu from launching
