Is Radiosure gone forever?
Re: is radiosure gone forver?
Hello to all
@Midas : I only used 2 "nicknames" : Philiweb (here) and GHbasicuser ("GH"= GitHub).
@giulia : Alas, there is no longer a way to get an automatic download from RadioSure. (Unless one day someone buys the "radiosure.com" domain name to enable this again, or “modify” the radiosure.exe file = not a good idea, unless you are the author.)
A few weeks ago I switched to QMPlay2, in particular because I appreciate these features missing from RadioSure : the display of album covers (on some radios), and the possibility of watching some TV channels (broadcasted in "HLS") like France 24 and BBC News.
This software is connected to the most recent version of Radio-Browser's DB (which also contains HLS links), and both are "Open-source" !
At the first use Its interface may seem confusing compared to RadioSure (because it allows many other things than the radio), but very quickly I saw that it was possible to make it more “user-friendly” (ia: by creating a "profile" with fewer open widgets, by customizing the colors, by moving the widget windows, etc). It's really a software to consider for 100% radio use (and not only).
@bitcoins : yes, this should make life easier for RadioSure users, and the additions to the Radio-Browser's database will benefit everyone, regardless of the (compatible) player they use.

Speaking of streamWriter, I just started using this heavily again over the past week.webfork wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 10:13 am You might look into StreamWriter https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2105 -- I found it somewhat annoying during initial setup, but it's packed with features.
The #1 best feature of streamWriter is the Title Search feature, which I mentioned over here: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index. ... mment27854
Based on the recommendations in this thread, I gave QMPlay2 a test drive. While there is a nice integration with radio-browser.info, I don't think I can live without streamWriter's Title Search feature. What gives QMPlay2 the edge is support for .opus radio streams, but I don't know many popular radio stations using .opus at the moment. For the few streams that support .opus, the track metadata mostly doesn't work. This isn't a QMPlay2 problem though.
One problem I have with radio-browser.info is many of the streams default to HTTP, when many do support HTTPS. I guess the problem is with the users submitting the web stream URLs though.
is it stealth?

yes great software but it's not portable stealth
can't understand why they don't want to do it
by the way the radiosure database was really huge
thanks
hi
well it's portable but not stealth
thanks
Re: is radiosure gone forver?
A possible explanation.. Some old OS (or player) may have imperfect SSL support, this problem exists with Radiosure : https://web.archive.org/web/20201020230 ... =2&t=13258freakazoid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 11:28 am One problem I have with radio-browser.info is many of the streams default to HTTP, when many do support HTTPS. But concerning Radio-Browser things may change. The author wrote this a few months ago:
(source)this is a feature that is actually on my todo list.
i want to test every stream for http and https support and then add another selector in the search endpoint
to get only http, only https or both streams as result
BUT it will take time until i get to it
Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?
Which reminds me that my current workplace blocks most streaming by invisible proxy (Squid) -- the only ones that work are the ones working over HTTP defaults (port 80)...Philiweb wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 11:31 pm Concerning Radio-Browser things may change. Aside from that, any insights on Pocket Radio Player (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2721) or Qmmp (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2798) in the present context?

Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?
I haven't tested Pocket Radio Player, but I've used Qmmp in the past. I'd rather use XMPlay instead of Qmmp. Other than QMPlay2, XMPlay also supports .opus radio streams, but you have to manually add the stream to the playlist.Midas wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 10:13 am Aside from that, any insights on Pocket Radio Player (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2721) or Qmmp (https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2798) in the present context?

Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?
For a little further context, that means that this -- http://ice1.somafm.com/groovesalad-128-aac -- works, but this -- http://somafm.com/groovesalad130.pls or any of the direct URLs therein -- doesn't...Midas wrote: ↑Which reminds me that my current workplace blocks most streaming by invisible proxy (Squid) -- the only ones that work are the ones working over HTTP defaults (port 80)...
FYI, XMPlay topic at viewtopic.php?t=166; homepage is at http://www.un4seen.com/xmplay.html.freakazoid wrote: ↑I'd rather use XMPlay instead of Qmmp. Other than QMPlay2, XMPlay also supports .opus radio streams, but you have to manually add the stream to the playlist.

HelloPhiliweb wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 1:47 am Good news.
On the Github repository created by "JazzfanRS", I proposed to create a converter to feed RadioSure with data from the Radio-Browser database.
And today "francois-neouser" has created one that should soon allow us to download new RadioSure database updates for years to come.
- https://github.com/JazzfanRS/Radiosure- ... e/issues/1 (about the converter)
Philippe
- https://www.radio-browser.info/add (To add new radios to the database, you will have to go to this page of Radio-Browser )
The francois-neosurf server (author of the Radio-Browser to RadioSure database converter) now offers new radio station updates for RadioSure.
- You can download them here : http://82.66.77.189:8080/ (The latest database contains more than 30,000 radio stations.)
Installation : replace the ".rsd" file in the "Stations" sub-folder of RadioSure with the one contained in the archive.

And if you're looking for a way to automatically find and install the latest base, I made this VBS script : Philippe

beutiful job , really ,keeping radiosure! is Epic , best internet radio
thanks Philippe
Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?
We had to deal with constraints, improvements are being studied, but for now it's already working well.

- If it can help, there is an easier way than the copy/paste method in a text editor :
- To download it : RB2RS-Database-Updater repository (Discussions on its use : here)
- The latest version of RadioSure (dated 2016) is v°2.2.1046 (with HLS M3U8 support).
Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?

Re: Is Radiosure gone forever?
Hi Giulia
To add new radio stations, the "easiest way" is to go to this page of the Radio-Browser.info website : https://www.radio-browser.info/add
Care must be taken to enter the correct informations when adding a radio, because since a few years it is no longer possible to modify them. (due to vandalism.)
• More informations here : https://www.radio-browser.info/faq
• New stations that never worked will get deleted after 2 days.
• Stations that worked at some point, but have not been working for at least 6 days now will get deleted.
On the other hand, it means that the (~30000) radio stations in the base have no major problems and are listenable.
