Ascii Patrol is an ASCII game project inspired by "Moon Patrol".

Website: http://ascii-patrol.com/
Source: https://github.com/msokalski/ascii-patrol

The game play is very close to the original Moon Patrol game, but with several additions. Of course game menu is also added as Ascii Patrol is not coin operated, so players can choose, for example, a level to play.

Game itself is only one file at 475kb (exe is named temp.exe oddly enough)

Not stealth

Seems to save a sound setting for asciipatrol in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\LowRegistry\Audio\PolicyConfig\PropertyStore

Available platforms:
  • Windows as pure console application
  • Linux and Cygwin with optional X11 input handling
  • DOS, FreeDOS, DOSBox and other DOS emulators
  • Web Browsers with Canvas (WebGL is highly recommended)

Its surprisingly fun for given the "low tech" graphics :-)

I have a fond memory of the 8-bit audio the arcade version of my youth would blast out.

I was too clumsy to play the damn thing, but I would linger close by just to revel in it.
