Discontinued support for Windows XP due to technical reasons. Notepad++ 7.9.2 is the last version to run on Windows XP. (Ref)

I always much prefer help materials in an offline state. Websites die and it's nice to have good info, and this just goes to show how easy that is (this was created with HTTrack Website Copier -- it's just a copy of the user manual website.

For those with an interest in having N++ on other platforms:
Notepad Next - A cross-platform, reimplementation of Notepad++.
https://github.com/dail8859/NotepadNext

Packages are available for Windows, Linux, and MacOS.
Windows packages are available as an installer or a stand-alone zip file on the release page.
https://github.com/dail8859/NotepadNext/releases

A quick test leads me to be believe it is indeed portable and leaves no practical traces.
