I am currently using SoftPerfect 'File Recovery'
http://www.softperfect.com/
It is a clever app, very easy to understand and in one only executabe file.

You missed out PhotoRec, which I highly recommend.

PhotoRec finds an awful lot of deleted files. I'm impressed. It's not really user-friendly, but it puts the competition to shame. It must be working at "a different" level than other programs.
However, this poses a problem. I thought I was practising "safe computing", but apparently not enough. Even after letting Eraser completely clean the disk, PhotoRec found thousands of files. And some of those files were supposed to have been overwritten by a program that cleans the browsers cache in the first place...
Which freeware disk cleaner is advanced enough to remove the stuff that PhotoRec finds? Is there one?

I had good experience with Disk Redactor.
When I last wiped my SD card, PhotoRec couldn't find anything on the card.

If I only have a few files I want to recover, I definitely use 'Restoration'. However, if I have a lot of files to recover, I go with Roadkil.NET's 'Undelete' (http://www.roadkil.net/undelete.html) as it has the option of selecting and recovering multiple files at once.
I like each program even though they both have their drawbacks. The sort option Roadkil.NET's 'Undelete' does not work and there is no filter function as of yet. But I'll be damned if I'm going to sit around and click and recover a thousand files through 'Restoration'.
