I am kind of embarrassed to ask for more enhancements, but one that will help readability is
so that the whole table is not so wide even with short text, like above.

Thread carefully there -- not all screens are desktop's in this day and age... better think of minimal threshold dimensions, too.

I agree. I tried it on my phone and found the 4% of column 2 too narrow. I was going to ask about max and min width, but just thought I'd see if I can't work around it in real non experimental tables before I do so.

I suggested table width for when it needs to be narrow, not wide.
