Heh. I prefer aliased rendering. Sharpness at all costs. :P

Dunno, never tried... But I wouldn't be surprised if I could ban myself, even.

Updated both font color and preferred font family.

Tested both prosilver and subsilver board themes.

I meant the font for code boxes

Code: Select all

This is a Code Box
Still Courier New!

As for the [ pre ] tag, thank you! (No text background?)

Done. Might have to clear browser cache to load the updated CSS.

Nah.. since it's inline, don't think it'd look good.

The new font looks good. :)

Yes, definitely an improvement in terms of readability. :nerd:

May I vote for a site-wide dark mode?
For the forum, we can always install another phpBB style. If you spot anything nice, do let us know.

For the main database, I would need someone well versed with CSS to contribute. Unfortunately, I suck at CSS and will not be up to the task!

I do support a dark mode but, to be clear, the dark mode saves energy only if you:
 1. Can turn down or turn off some lights around your monitor
 2. Have an "OLED"-type monitor that actually turns off the pixels that are black and dims the brightness of darker colors. Most people have phones now that are OLED so that mode definitely helps, but the last time I dug into this, most monitors don't support the format. there's some technical issues (may of those listed in the wikipedia article may have been resolved)
I'm not trying to split hairs here, this is just another way to remind people that -- when you buy a monitor -- to try and get one that is both reliable and supports OLED. More: https://www.displayninja.com/best-oled-monitor/

... Maybe it is a trend .., but maybe ... not everybody would love it.
And from a usability perspective .... not sure it is the best.
Could it be just an option?
Personally, I do not "love" it, and I am pretty happy with the current look and feel!

I'd just recommend using a dark mode extension for your browser. The most popular is Dark Reader and is available for both Firefox and Chrome.

And it doesn't require Andrew or tproli to do any changes to the site! :D
is it stealth? ;)

I have grown accustomed to dark modes on my portable devices, so the proposed addition would be welcome by me.

That being said, I have also noticed that such a transition is not without hiccups, with some sites becoming unreadable on account of stuff like dark text on dark backgrounds (or even vice-versa, light text on light backgrounds).

I'd prefer not to have to resort to browser extensions for this, as not only their results are even more unreliable, but because they are yet another burden on cumbersome programs, and a solution I would like to reserve to essential functionality like ad-blocking and privacy monitoring.

Hi Andrew,

A couple of quick requests if you may:
1. A way to center text in a line, like
2. A way to resize inline images, like [ img size=][ /img]

Also, the use cases box doesn't adapt to many entries (and doesn't show in preview).

Thanks
