TPFC Database

#1 Post by guinness »

I've just gone through the database of those applications that are in the Private database, (using [#] in the search field) and voted for accordingly. If anyone feels I've missed an application that should be in the main database then let me know. Please take into consideration I don't test .NET applications or Java because I don't have the facility to do so.

Linked Notes appears to be duplicated and if it is should be merged if possible.

Various No-Clone Entries all seem to be shareware or payware.
NoClone Free Edition 2010-4.2.25 = Shareware License (is this a joke or a mistake :?: )
NoClone Home Edition 2010-4.2.25 = Shareware License
NoClone Enterprise Edition 2010-4.2.25 = Shareware License
NoClone - Find duplicate files & photoes & mails. 4.2.14 = Shareware License
All were entered by noclone

I would like to ask if noclone could be considered for banning?
I would also like to see the entries by noclone removed.

Thanks donald. noclone last logged on about 18 months ago so I don't think they'll be coming back.

I agree they shouldn't be in the private database, but as I've understood so long as they aren't voted that's where they will remain.

I'll leave that up to Andrew. I posted a warning on his account.

Its weird that he created them and never did anything with it. They weren't mentioned in any of his 5 posts. Weird.

Anyone is free to add what they want in their own private "stream", until they go mad and eat up all my disk quota. :D

At some point in time, I will probably do a cleanup of very old private entries (eg. those that are older than a year and still private). That should clean up the database at one go.

Brilliant, as it's becoming a little overcrowded and hard to keep track of what is new.

hrm, i can see the benefit of some kind of pruning but i have to say, just because a program hasnt been voted in, doesnt mean its not portable. So just deleting all the old entries seems like a waste to me.
For instance, i threw Luxinia in a long while back, and while its not been voted in, it is portable.

Granted its not a great example, just one that i know of, :P

Of course certain entries should be considered on an individual basis, but for those entries that were added 2 years ago with poor description, no icon, no screenshot, incorrect details, missing extraction details etc.. then they have no business being there*

*This is my opinion and in no way reflects the opinions of TPFC.

Looks like Pawn has dual entries in the DB too.

Looks like I should "kill" the old entry?

629 private entries

#14 Post by billon »

There are 629 private hidden entries in the database!

Some of them looks just like spam, some duplicates, abandonwares, not stealth, downvoted with intention entries etc.
But there also many interesting entries, which you would never know that they was even added to the database!

TO EVERYBODY:

When you add something to TPFC, don't forget to write about it in the forum!!!

Reminder:
If you want to search for private entries, just type [#] in the search field
If you want to search for some private entry, just add [#] before item, for example: [#]Textilosaurus

Note that link only works when logged in. For the entries that were basically just spam, we don't want to add anything to their SEO.
