Re: URLFilter (developed due to PortableFreeware feedback)

I don't know if I should ask for this, but I'd really like to see support for ipfilter.dat file added, especially for utorrent.
Or maybe it should be a separate app?
Ohhh good idea! Maybe include an option to updated the little flags icons too (I'm still on v2.0.4).

So in the next couple of days I will have the application at beta stage, the reason for the delay is I've been working heavily on UDF's and implementing the logging feature so I can determine what is the problem with some users. If you want to pre-test then just let me know :D

Take your time and don't hurry ... because this will cause errors.

That was embarrassing, thanks Checker. Tomorrow I'll be concentrating on Freak. But I did have a revelation about this today, I wonder what Andrews take is on this program? Perhaps I should start posting elsewhere about the development of it, because it is an ad blocker after all.

Just played around with the lastest version a bit... and well... can I ask a stupid question first?
It appears an error occured when updating the Adblock file
The "updating" part... what if urlfilter.ini is not there to update? (Yes I realize I sound like a fool)

I assume if it is not found, then Freak makes a copy, yes?

Could you provide the log output via PM please.

It doesn't matter urlfilter.ini is created anyway.

Edit: Also I forgot to mention Freak is supported on XP SP3 right through to Windows 7 SP1 so if you have an older system then I can't guarantee it will work as expected.

It seems to work on XP SP2 as well.

Thanks to joby_toss, ChemZ, donald & the_watcher for testing the early stages of Freak (again thanks to joby_toss for the name.) I'm happy to report that the internal code is stable and all that remains for me to do is update the UI, so expect a beta release in the next couple of days :D If anyone has any suggestions for how the UI should look then let me know, because I've been playing with a few designs the last couple of days.

I've updated the first post that points to a temporary website.

@ guinness While I can still find a button on your website the webpage is no longer found for Freak.

Is Freak truly dead? Or is it just forgotten.

No, just pending completion. I thought no one was interested anymore so I haven't bothered to complete it.

@ guinness I do not know if you will add support for Utorrent and its dat files,

but if you do you will likely find it is very popular.

Either way I believe everyone has just forgotten.

@Everybody but guinness Please consider PM-ing guinness or

posting to this thread if you like his software Freak,

also if you would like Utorrent support.

Since the description is vague, I'm curious how this works, is it addon or something along the lines of Ad Muncher?
