Really hadn't though of a family / safe web filter as something that portable users would need since so many programs here on the site are about getting around restrictions, but this might actually open up portable software to users who otherwise wouldn't think of it. It also takes away the notion that one computer is the dedicated "family" computer with specific filter software installed, which means people can have fewer computers in the house.

The site doesn't currently have a safe filter of any type and of course there's also router-based DNS tools like these:
Anyway, good post. Thanks klon.

Edit: from the person/people behind BlueLife Keyfreeze http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2363 and AppAdmin http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1984

Edit2: Oh and klon is one of the members/devs on that site.

Info on the various DNS services this can use:
Note: I tested both Metacert and OpenDNS with a very publicly registered adult website without success. I also tested a link that Metacert provides for testing their service without visiting a porn site. My setup is unusual (Mac using WinXP under VMware fusion) so it might be my machine.

FWG just did a writeup so I'm guessing that issue has been resolved.

Hesitant to retest this now that the author(s) have taken some of their other freeware down a commercial route. Might be a great program but definitely don't want to add it to the database only to revise it later.
