Registry app.....

#1 Post by Wolfghost »

Hi all

I'm new in this really nice forum, and yes I just love free portable apps :D
I want to know which reg prog those watching and removing reg files when I try to figure out progs portability, or which progs your guys use for this ?!?!

(Hopefully portable)

I use VirtualBox with the Snapshot feature so I always have a clean install. I use in combination System Explorer which can take a snapshot of before and after, then I can then compare any Registry Keys or Files that were added to the System.
This works for me and I have had no complaints.

Other use a combination of programs e.g. Sandboxie + SandboxDiff ...

I use RegShot 2 pretty often.
It creates "undo" reg files for snapshots.
Its got a couple of annoying default behaviours
but they are easy to get past

I prefer Regshot 2 as well as it is eay, fairly intuitive, and does not require setting up to test registry changes. Of course, if I am trying to figure out a complex program that has multiple registry entries, saves files in various locations, etc., I turn to a virtual system, but as a lover of the portable and light, this is rare.
