andLinux.org -- Run Linux natively inside Windows

#1 Post by Simon.T »

andLinux is a complete Ubuntu Linux system running seamlessly in Windows 2000 based systems (2000, XP, 2003, Vista; 32-bit versions only). This project was started for Dynamism for the GP2X community, but its userbase far exceeds its original design. andLinux is free and will remain so, but donations are greatly needed.

You welcome... (you ALL welcome) but how come that this is a "News" for you? (odd - it's an old news - I think) :?: :!: :?: see here

Nonetheless, I think of ReactOS (andLinux.org) Ubuntu - this would be perfect

LOL , No no no... this is only an indication which can give you a clue of how popular is a selected site.

I'm no longer on del.icio.us (I moved to Chipmark.com) and I'm using the del.icio.us history bookmarklet for easier labeling of my chipmarks :P

Only 2 cents from my side :)

Opera gave me a warning about old and nor safe security methods used for connection with this site (TLS v1.0 128 bit AES - 768 bit DHE_RSA/SHA).

Maybe I am paranoic but del.icio.us gave no warnings (TLS v1.0 256 bit AES - 1024 bit DHE_RSA/SHA).

Just say no to Windows

#9 Post by ohiozzz »

Why not just say the heck with windows and install Ubuntu. I tried a dual boot of Ubuntu and I loved it. The only thing I miss is KMplayer I really liked that. Windows Vista took forever to boot and shut down plus it used 984Mb of ram just running idle. Ubuntu only uses about 400Mb of ram with xmms, mplayer and firefox running. Plus I don't need antivirus or antispyware or a firewall. As for me I'm done with windows forever. Oh and I've tried to give it a virus opened emails went to porn sites nothing can stop LINUX.

At last someone admits to it.
I wondered where all their customers came from

I came up with this topic because I portably installed Cygwin and I had read that isn't really a way to run native Linux apps on Windows.

I read about andLinux and I already know about 3 portability issues.

1. Writes to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\andLinux 2. Creates a service however it has an interface to do it manually 3. Installs WinTap Driver

Looks like you can run it to the side of Windows, something beautiful to see. However it is still beta 1.

And it probably won't go well with multiprocessors!! :P
