Why not just get rid of the middleman (VM) and boot Windows permanently on a Mac? I've read in a few places that Windows 10 performs better than Mac OS on a Mac!
All these years later, Windows memory management and tendency to give one program the ability to slow the whole system to a halt make it good to run the whole thing inside a container.

It's admittedly not very good in terms of power usage (it zaps my battery a lot faster than if I just did one OS).

Mircosfot keeps trying to grab your telemetric data -- today, I got the one in "2." of the following article in my Windows 7 x64 SP1; granted, it was offered as optional, but still...
  • Windows 10 patches make a return on Windows 7 and 8
    http://www.ghacks.net/2015/10/09/window ... s-7-and-8/
If you are running Windows 7 or 8 and don't want to upgrade to Windows 10, you are in constant battle with updates that Microsoft is pushing out to those systems that are often labeled compatibility updates but appear to be designed mainly for getting users to upgrade their systems to Windows 10 or adding snooping capabilities introduced in Windows 10 to previous versions of Windows.

...In other words, your computer might be automatically upgraded to Windows 10 after a reboot because, just as ZDNet writes, Windows Update only offers an option to start the installation of the new OS and nothing more...
...What’s interesting is that it appears that some third-party apps that could previously block the Get Windows 10 app and delay the upgrade to the new OS forever no longer work...
Damn', they're persistent!

...Although at first it wasn’t very clear what exactly happened because the Windows 10 upgrade was supposed to be optional in the first place, a statement released by the software giant to Ars confirms that it was all just a mistake.
Basically, the optional upgrade to Windows 10, which was… er… optional, was checked by default, which means that it was automatically downloaded and installed on Windows 7 PCs. The company says that it all happened accidentally and has since removed this configuration to make sure that users are still allowed to choose if they want to install Windows 10 or not...
Funny sh.t, but that was a close one! :)

Microsoft has announced that early next year Windows 10 update will be automatically initiated on systems which have recommended updates set to install automatically: http://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperie ... indows-10/
Terry Myerson wrote: Early next year, we expect to be re-categorizing Windows 10 as a “Recommended Update”. Depending upon your Windows Update settings, this may cause the upgrade process to automatically initiate on your device. Before the upgrade changes the OS of your device, you will be clearly prompted to choose whether or not to continue.

b.t.w.
Microsoft has released an 'optional' update KB3102810:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3102810
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=49540

Why?
"Installing and searching for updates is slow and high CPU usage occurs in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2"

But if You download updates and updates that correct previous update, system will unstable.
Microsoft will not release a cumulative update for Windows 7 (and Windows 8.1 too) so I think Microsoft will push user to willingly upgrade to Windows 10 and only for obtain a stable system.
"Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the universe trying to build bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning." - Rick Cook.

“In the cases where we’ve not provided options, we feel that those things have to do with the health of the system,” he said. “In the case of knowing that our system that we’ve created is crashing, or is having serious performance problems, we view that as so helpful to the ecosystem and so not an issue of personal privacy, that today we collect that data so that we make that experience better for everyone.”

The heading is very misleading. It was a bug that the update triggered automatically (or, at the very least, Microsoft says so).
