Make non portable program into a portable program?

#1 Post by stumpii »

Has anyone come across any programs that can make a non portable program into a portable one? I mean a program that would load registry settings and create user folders before the program starts and after it finishes remove the reg settings and delete the user folder.

that is what has motivated lots of other places to do such things as PFF or PTB or POO. They wanted to take them with them. Most of them from what i have seen and read, have had to alter the files in some way manually first using batch files, or CMD line codes.

While I'm not that techincally advanced, I have seen where people request something be made portable and if the interest is there, an attempt is done at it. :D

John Haller plans on releasing instructions for people to make their own portable apps. He writes launchers using NSIS and plans on releasing a universal launcher that you can use to make non-portable applications portable.

I have thought about the same using AutoIt as it is easier than using NSIS. Don't want to do all the work and find out there is something else out there! If I work anything out I will post it.

RegRapper is great.
But you can only use it to monitor one registry line...
You can do amazing things with autoit.
When I did the portable BSplayer I combined autoit and batch files.
To my knowledge it works great... We'll see...
