I like the idea, but I'd like to know more about what this app would be able to do. Will it be able to display the results in its own window? Or something to be used by Executor, for example?
At present I haven't thought much about it. Perhaps that's a sign it should just stay on the back burner.

The goodies section is very impressive, for example I love how you can translate a sentence into a URLEncoded string or create a MD5 checksum from a string. The website has great potential.

It's brilliant you're listing all these new search engines but honestly I could create a list of 100 providers in 5 minutes, what we want to know is why are these special and different from say the likes of Google or Bing.

Really?

This is the question from the first post:
"I was just reading this topic and I was wondering what search alternatives to Google are you guys using (not yahoo, bing, ask or some other giant)?"

As you can see, I was simply answering it by listing the search engines I (occasionally) use.

Just to throw it in there I just remembered about http://www.dogpile.com/ which is a meta search engine.

Toxteth O'Grady, I find it a little hard to believe that anyone uses 10+ search engines when generally speaking most only use 1 or at a push 2. The question as you pointed out was "What other search alternatives are you using?" & not "What other search alternatives are available?"

Another I regularly use. It's excellent.

I mentioned earlier about a DuckDuckGo version of lmgtfy, well seems it's been done already >> http://help.duckduckgo.com/customer/por ... st-for-fun (website appears to be down.)

I checked it again yesterday too and I get the funny feeling that it's been down for sometime, shame.
