Re: When giants collide
I've been playing around with the idea of flooding services with a wide variety of randomly-generated emails, etc. that feed it a ton of meaningless information over time. I'd filter it on the client side but the email service wouldn't know the difference. This has two goals: Mess up their whole an...

Re: Extract multiple files from USB HDD
For the record and to complete my previous console solution , Roadkil.net Unstoppable Copier (http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=149) will accept a plain text file with an 'ucb' extension (just rename it...), with one instruction per line (see format below) for its "Batch Mode" copy... [S...

Re: An Explorer like XP for Windows 7 and beyond...
From my personal experience WXP X86 with AMD dual-core and 4GB RAM runs noticeable faster than W7 X64. I especially care about it because if a system or application is slower, it means you do less in the same time. [...] Other than that I'm not a fan of all-in-one applications, I'd rather go for us...

If you have a bluetooth mobile phone, BTProximity would be even simpler (untested!)... BTProximity is an application for Windows Vista and Windows 7 that can detect when your bluetooth-enabled phone has come into range, and unlock your computer. When the device moves out of range, the computer is au...

Re: Extract multiple files from USB HDD
The hardcore console way:  Put the code below in a text file an rename it to locate.bat (or .cmd). Move it somewhere on your %PATH% (%WINDIR% is the easiest choice). Open a windows console anywhere on the USB HDD and type "locate *.[extension]" and it will list all relevant files ...

Since the debate is verging on free/open source software philosophy, I reckon the time is right for the introduction of a couple of 'apropos' references: The first is to my preferred guide in such matters, Eben Moglen, of "anything worth copying is worth sharing" fame; http://en.wikipedia....
