Re: Portable Firewall
As there aren't many options to portabilize Windows firewall management (e.g., see discussion at https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16917), and in the prospect of automating tasks, I think a mention of Gammadyne's command line tool ' FIREWALL.EXE ' is in order here (check http:/...

Re: Keeping UniExtract up to date
Gora (& Ricktendo continued up to 1.7.9.95Y) and LonerD (up to DreamLair 2.1.1) a.f.a.i.k. they seemed to enter a clone war (? why Gora withdrew further changes) both did not generally make their code changes openly obvious, however their "bin" changes were normally visible to the pub...

Re: DropIt
I noticed that when DropIT moves files it changes the permissions such that the user account cant do anything. This isnt a bit g problem because the account that moved the file can still access it but why does it change the permissions to begin with and can this be changed? I just noticed that you ...

Re: PlainEdit
Old topic update: the present one is now PlainEdit ( https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1357 ) official forum topic -- please note that currently TPFC's entry lists non-DotNET PlainEdit v1.7.6.1, while the homesite only displays the DotNET PlainEdit (v1.4.2); the download is correct, though. The P...

Re: Finally a launcher for all portable programs?
Got it. Fine by me.
Would prefer if SPSbuilder could be a full blown stand alone package manager -- but, hey, I take whatever I can get.

Re: Airfox
Yet another Firefox sprout: Airfox is a DotNET v2.0 implementation of the Gecko engine, meant for enhanced lightweightness (untested!). I'm assuming that apart form the DotNET dependency, portability will be pretty much similar to other *fox variations... Airfox is the only browser that has a modern...

GFXplorer (system info utility)
GFXplorer is another single executable system info utility, now offering compatibility with DirectX 11.2, and displaying hard-drives following the " \\.\DEVICENAME " scheme; it also provides easy access to relevant technical features of Windows. I haven't tested it for stealth, but as GFX...

Re: [Resolved] Losslessly convert downloaded vids and AAC fi
Don't know if it's still needed or even if it fits the bill (I haven't tested it!), but I felt like mentioning free M4A to MP3 here... M4A to MP3 is a free audio converting software to convert M4A/AAC audio (*.m4a;*.aac;*.m4r;*.m4b;*.mp4;*.3gp) to normal MP3 audio files (*.mp3). It supports batch co...

Also, the "Suggested by" field seems wrong. @ EL_DeLino : entries in the database usually get the " Suggested by " member name from the first mention in the forums (should it exist), not from the poster... corrected. BTW, Ghacks.net recently reviewed freeware uninstallers ( Geek...

Re: Blues Media Player
Nice find, smaragdus. Blues Media Player ( BMP ) looks like an excellent general purpose media player with a slew of customization options. 8) Niggles I found during the briefest of tests: I have no idea how to open the " Radio " player (see screenshot below), other than giving BMP a worki...
