Re: Text Editor Performance Tests

TP109 - Do you have an updated link to your findings? I have a need to open a large log file and would really value your research :) I think your graphs say that either GigaEdit or HiEditor is suitable for files larger than 750MB. Is that still the case? Also for HiEditor, why didn't you use the la...

Re: Removed outdated browsers from the database

I don't use Off By One, but you can disable images from loading. From their website, it looks like it can play .wav and .avi, so you'd need a specially-crafted item from one of those types of files and the know-how to target OBO's custom web engine in order to exploit it. Sounds like it would be a h...

Re: XMPlay - audio player

XMPlay 3.8.5 should now support relative file paths in playlists.

Haven't tested the library yet, but if the library is now relative, then native XMPlay could replace the PA.com version.

See my last post above: those Windows Mplayer builds are currently my preferred ones and they get updated fairly often -- the latest one is dated 2020-06-03.
midas, thanks for posting about Mplayer's ffmpeg builds!

Re: Removed outdated browsers from the database

I disagree about Off By One. It's a browser that doesn't even render Java and JS, which are the major causes of web exploits.

I don't have an issue with the rest of them.

Re: Auto clicker program

You could also try any macro program to record a certain mouse click and then run the macro on a loop or whatever you want.

Try TinyTask: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1853

How did I not know about this app?

A worthy Photoshop alternative that is open-source. Need to test it more, but big thumbs up on first impressions!

Re: Ueli - Keystroke launcher

The reasons PenDrive and igec mentioned are why I said "instant pass."

Not going to lie, Ueli does look good, but I wouldn't run it in the background. While it doesn't look as good, I use Executor instead as it uses very little memory and disk space.

Re: QupZilla

Thanks webfork. Entry looks good! Can I suggest editing the name of this topic to Falkon instead of Qupzilla? I also made a change to the alternative apps portion of the entry and replaced them with Otter Browser and X-Chromium. I listed Otter because it's probably the closest match to Falkon and X-...

Re: Is there a reliable program that monitors changes of web pages?

I had to conjure up something for a site that doesn't provide a RSS feed. I ended up using Pipes , which is sort of a Yahoo Pipes clone. You can create RSS feeds from any webpage, but it helps if you have a little knowledge of HTML to fully customize your feed and understand how to use it. Their doc...

Re: QupZilla

We should probably switch over the QupZilla listing to Falkon. Portableapps.com has a version for download here: https://portableapps.com/apps/internet/falkon-portable

There hasn't been a release in over a year though. Current version is using Chrome 69, which is way outdated.

I'm using Firefox and am able to login.

I'm guessing you're either using some extensions or settings that block cookies or changes the page referer?

Re: program that can 'set default browser' ?

You should just rely on the native OS functionality for this. Unless your goal is to backup the existing default browser value so you can reinstate it after you've finished using your portable browser? Another alternative is to use a file manager (such as XYPlorer Pro) that can open custom file exte...
