Re: yaP - yet another Portablizer
Since tproli sent me a message looking for easy-to-use and small-executable-producing languages, I PM'd him about FreeBASIC. I decided I'd post it here since others seem to be following his interest as well. FreeBASIC is an odd little mix of Basic and object-oriented programming that has won me over...

Re: yaP - yet another Portablizer
I just compiled this with MingGW gcc and the exe came out as 527 KB. guinness, try using the 'strip' tool on the executable. mingw and the like have a habit of tacking on humongous amounts of debug information, even if you don't ask for it in the compile. It should be in the mingw\bin folder. (use:...

Re: IE 9 unreadable
I can confirm that IE9 keeps jumping into Compatibility View with those ugly scrollbars (Win 7). Ah well, good thing I hardly touch that browser, even if it is fast at canvas stuff

Re: Code::Blocks - CppCheck plugin
Since CppCheck is a great plugin tool to have alongside Code::Blocks, I'd figure I'd mention how to fix support for it in the IDE (the plugin is there, but not the program). Basically, you just need to download and extract the CppCheck files and put them in the root CodeBlocks folder. CppCheck Home:...

Re: Code::Blocks
I will check this out as I currently have dev-cpp, also I thought you used dev-cpp because I believe I saw your handle attached to the portable launcher. I did actually write a portable launcher for dev-cpp (posted on pastebin a while back), but the developer decided to go with his own version. Of ...

Re: Code::Blocks
So they finally released a new version recently - 12.11 . I haven't given it a full workout yet, but I've gone through and figured out how to make it portable. It's a bit more of a hassle than for 10.05, but if you want a nice cross-platform cross-compiler development environment, this is really the...

Re: Free HDD LED
Huh, found some free portable HDD LED indicator software, one of which is already in the TPFC database! I'll list them here for reference for anyone that comes across this thread or searches on Hard Drive Activity or LED indicator. FloatLED: http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=867 That one ...

Re: Free HDD LED
Well you pretty much have all the work done anyway :mrgreen: Haha, true. The only annoying thing is I'd rather have it as an executable, and AutoIt executables are too fat and bloated for me. I'm pondering if its worth writing the performance counters modules in C++, or better yet, use this nice in...

Free HDD LED
Free HDD LED This software does just what you think - shows blinking LED's for your hard drives with any detected activity. It has a few extras, the one I like in particular is its ability to flash the Scroll Lock LED when there is activity. http://asset1.cbsistatic.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2012/03/20/For...

Re: LiberKey concerns
This was done on a clean Windows XP install and nothing was done except install and run. Huh, that's odd. I'm running Windows 7 and installed it 3 times and never had any such screen pop up. I just ran it on an XP Pro Virtual Machine though, and that screen does indeed pop up. I suppose that must b...

Re: LiberKey concerns
I've been reading this discussion on and off, and decided to try the launcher out today. It appears that the statement John made earlier about the LiberKey launcher prompting you to download a suite of software is untrue, or at least has been changed with the recent version. After installing it and ...

Re: Desktop Slider
This is a pretty neat tool. It just needs a few tweaks still.. certain windows aren't moved. For example, Windows 7's Calculator, Skype's main window, and 'toolbox' windows like that used in Gimp don't get moved at all. I'm sure these small issues can be resolved pretty easily. Btw, any windows with...
