Well yes and no. From what I can tell you store your mail account settings in a *.magic file, however the program does write general settings to the following registry location: HKey_Current_User\Software\Orient Lab\Magic Mail Monitor I would suggest the portable Popman as an alternative application...

It seems like you might be getting confused here... those programs are used to create a portable operating system (A cut-down version of Windows) that is bootable from CD. I've used BartPE and it is OK, but if you want a portable operating system then you're better off using a bootable linux LiveCD ...

Seems to store a setting in the registry in a key "config" with a string name of "bananas", hhhmm descriptive. Since I don't know what this is for I can't say for sure whether this will affect portability or not. However, it's true that it doesn't require any installation, just d...

Applications which require the .Net framework to run are not accepted into the Portable Freeware database.

The .Net platform is:
1) Large
2) not guaranteed to be installed on all Windows computers.

Don't worry, we don't discriminate against not native English speakers (although we should make an exception for the French.. just kidding). If it's verified to be portable, it will go into the database eventually, but you should be patient, there are many submissions a day and only so many hours in...

I propose a simple solution.... Don't run Vista. It's a good point but I don't know enough about Vista to know how many apps will be compatible. I'm assuming Vista will have a certain level of backwards compatibility (as XP has compatibility mode for 95, although it doesn't always work!)

@technicolordreamcoat Thanks for the suggestions. My only gripe with these are that they seem to be aimed almost exclusively at Firefox users. Now I have nothing against Firefox since I do use it sometimes (but I don't think it's as brilliant as some people make it out to be but that's another story...

Now here's something you don't see every day... I'm submitting a Microsoft program: FavTool Synopsis: FavTool is a small utility to convert Netscape Bookmark HTML files (those used by Firefox et al) into Microsoft Internet Explorer favorites and vice versa (Yes, believe it or not, Microsoft actually...

WebOS

Can't take credit for this one, saw it over at NoInstall.com but it's certainly not a concept that I've heard before: Having a desktop environment in your browser. It is kind of neat but can be a little frustrating since it is/can be sloooow (and I'm on a fast cable connection!) I've tried (very bri...

I don't know exactly how much of a manual process it is to import bookmarks but it looks like someone in Iceland got straight to it, when they came into work this morning. I've just checked my account and all my bookmarks have been imported. So my faith in spurl.net is restored and I can already who...

I have signed up for a Spurl.net account but I am discovering that there may be one major flaw with Spurl; namely that the import feature simple doesn't work. The website claims that it can take about 24 hours to import your bookmarks (since it is done manually as an anti-spam measure) but I have re...

@darkbee no experience with lifefavorites, but heard about it just recently using google bookmarks and quite like it: no install required at all, easy access from the web or from bookmark link in browser, reliable, but looks like you can't go wrong with spurl I figured that the toolbar was optional...

Yep, that seems to be the other popular one I'm encountering. Spurl.net has options to migrate data from del.icio.us it seems.
