It already has been added to the database, as per Andrew's message.

It's worth noting that many of the popular open source apps for Windows are also available for other platforms; FireFox, OpenOffice, GAIM, NVU, VLC and GIMP to name but a few (some available for Linux and Mac, some just for Linux). Don't forget that many other operating systems don't have a notion o...

..."absolute" versus "relative", with absolute defining the exact location down to specifying the drive letter, versus relative which specifies the path to the relevent resource/file in relation to the current directory (see Firewrath's examples above).

It looks like usdcs and I posted at the same time! As far as the "spirit' of the licence goes, naturally each licence may be different but I think the common argument is that usually the software is considered for use with one computer (probably by one user) and by making it portable, you...

My guess would be that you are going to be hard-pressed to find an existing portable solution, free or otherwise, because editable PDF's are typically the domain of commercial software and commercial developers seem to assume people are running software from fixed environments (not portable flash dr...

Thanks for the suggestions, some I've tried and to be quite honest they fall slightly short of spurl. This is unfortunate, since I can no longer recommend spurl.net. It seems to be dead in the water. :( Currently, I'm continuing to use spurl until such time as it completely ceases to work, after whi...

I don't like driving 30 M.P.H. in a built-up area but unfortunately if I go any faster than that I must be prepared to face the consequences... like being fined, having my driving licence revoked etc etc.

Sumatra PDF viewer

Updated to version 0.4. Sorry if this has already been posted, been mega busy this week and haven't had time to check the forum much. Changes: * printing * ask before registering as a default handler for PDF files * faster rendering thanks to alternative PDF rendering engine. Previous engine is avai...

I think most of the people on this forum are interested in Freeware or open source software, so payware tends to be ignored. That is probably why XYplorer has not be mentioned before.

What are the most important features for you? Do you just need the browser that uses the least amount of resources? Or are there specific features that you really must have? K-Meleon is a pretty good NON IE browser (It's actually based on Mozilla/Firefox). There are several portable versions, but I'...

I think Green Browser is better if you want an IE based browser. The interface is a little confusing at first (the author is Chinese I think), some of the language takes time understand (even for a native English speaker!) but I find that it has all the features of Firefox, plus others without the n...

This app has been updated a lot since the version listed in the database (v0.7.0.1). It's now up to version 0.8.0.3, and there are probably too many changes to list here. Most of them appear to be fixes or optimizations to make things run faster and more reliably. Most notably for me the Great Briti...
