Re: Anagram Generator

The author of AG has been making some changes (he's a bit like tactictoe on speed!!!)
Most significant I think, v 1.8 now allows a right-click on a word to get the definition.
Cool.

Re: Visions of Chaos

@shnbwmn
Your post implies that you know a reasonable amount about the subject so I will be interested in your opinions.
I have a copy of Mandelbulb3D but to be honest I find it heavy going.

Anagram Generator

Anagram Generator is now available as a portable program. I suspect it's too trivial to be considered by TPFC's intelligentsia. But I like it! It's mostly a bit of fun. It generates anagrams, solves lexigrams, provided lists of palindromes and lists rhyming words. For me as a crossword puzzler, its...

Visions of Chaos

Visions of Chaos is a very professional fractal generation program. Arguably it is the best in its class - free or shareware It is portable and probably stealth. It's available from http://softology.com.au/voc.htm You will find that the site is very well organised with an interesting blog. Just in ...

Re: AntiDupl.NET v 1.6

This was my duplicate image finder of choice.
It still is a program I use but I think Awesome duplicate photo finder is a little better.
Has anyone come across any others (eg Panaustik)

Re: PicoTorrent

I don't really have any interest in this product but I thought tictactoe's comment was useful. I also felt that it was fairly unusual for such a program not to also require vcruntime140.dll. Sure enough it did need the other dll. It then tries to run but fails with an unhandled exception error. Anot...

Re: Search and delete

First let me thank you for another useful contribution. I risk sounding patronising but it is good when contributors use TPFC as a sounding board. But (yes ... there is a but!) I wish you'd make up your mind what your application is called and stick with it. You refer to it as SearchAndDelete in TPF...

Re: Edge blocker v1.0

I'll have to expose my ignorance!

I don't have Windows 10 but I upgraded my wife's laptop to W10.
The default browser was Edge and this was not suitable for my wife's needs.
It was a trivial task to make IE the default and make Edge appear unavailable.
So why the need for Edge blocker?

Re: System Restore

Some very interesting responses so far! nickoftime and NickR have virtually no problems with System Restore . Yet together with a very large number of users (from googling) I cannot use it. There must be some explanation for this but we're obviously not going to get it from Microsoft or elsewhere. I...

System Restore

Had a major computer disaster recently.
Furthermore, system restore didn't work. But then it NEVER works for me!
So 1. What are your experiences with system restore?
2. Do any of you use any proprietary restore software (free or otherwise)?
If so what do you advise?

Re: Movie Info Search V 1.4.2 - Freeware Portable

Your Geocities page asks about user experiences on older operating systems.
I use Vista (32bit) and a cursory trial showed no problems at all.
So ... thanks for a useful contribution.

Re: Kvetka

About 4 months ago I had the need to analyse about 60 games. I wasn't particularly interested in a very sophisticated program. Basically - just a blunder checker. I scoured the web and came across a significant number of options but few free ones. I eventually settled on Lucas Chess which purports t...
