@freakazoid Checking the XP machine KB* logs, I find the last "out-of-support" Security Update officially released 09MAY2019 was KB4500331, duly applied 16MAY2019. Before that, there are about 10 other KBxxx, all applied in 2017. BTW, I never installed the registry hack to get XP Embedded...
