Re: USB Flash drive lifespan + portable apps

Cheap Chinese 2TB thumbdrives are scams. The drive is configured to claim that its capacity is two terabytes, but if you actually try to use it, new data will overwrite old data. Please advise your workmate to throw the drive away before he/she loses important data. i see the same thing going on wi...

Re: What hardware are you using?

Now, i've just salvaged an Acer Aspire one netbook : intel atom (1.6Ghz), 512Mb RAM, 8Gb SSD. Just installed Antix Linux on this netbook, it runs great : web browsing is smooth, video streaming is fine, everything worked straight from the beginning : keyboard, touchpad, wifi, etc... Very light on s...

Re: EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard 4.3.6

EASEUS has a good free OS migration program that creates a bootable image that allows you to copy a larger HDD image to a smaller SSD

edit: oops, that was AOMEI, not EASEUS

apologies

USB Flash drive lifespan + portable apps

i was considering buying a 256 GB low profile fit drive and putting all my portable apps and portable browsers on there and running everything from that drive instead of the onboard HDD because i have several laptops that i use and i get weary of updating the programs on all of them. Any drawbacks t...

Just felt like creating a topic in appreciation of all those who make the PF site worthwhile ;) There are so many tireless contributions to the database as well as the various, more occasional users who both suggest and post about portable software that it continues to be an excellent resource for ...

Re: HTTP Downloader

The only open source download managers which I am aware of being still developed are AWGG (the latest beta- 0.5.1.5331, is a huge improvement), and HTTP Downloader , which I will continue to use (regular usage is the best testing in my opinion). what about uGet? https://ugetdm.com/ calls itself "th...

Re: Need downloader

JDownloader portable has many options, best downloader i've used I'd be tempted to agree, if only my portable Jdownloader folder didn't take a whopping 450MB. Of course that includes a local version of Java but still way more than the less than 5MB wget requires. mine is only 307 MB here ve...
