Re: Help files?
I like the single-page HTML/MHTML with a contents at the top that link to the sections. It's cross-platform, it should even open on portable devices, and if you need to search you can just use the browser's search. Kind of like this, could use a bit of prettying up though: http://www.gnu.org/softwar...

Re: calibre
I believe the registry "functions" are actually macros, so it's a different syntax:
Code: Select all
${registry::DeleteKey} "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trolltech"

Re: Snap DB
I've used that for a long time, but for most simple things I want to do with a CSV (delete or move a column or row, sorting) it's overkill.Checker wrote:Did you try CSVedHydaral wrote:I've been looking for a simple app that can manipulate CSVs, this fits the bill perfectly, thanks.

Very cool. I wonder if they will/are allowed to link it to the CIA World Factbook? That would be really useful.

Re: Windows without antivirus (Google Translate)
I've never used AV on my main computer, I do use a software firewall and run occasional MalwareBytes scans though. Never had a virus, worm, trojan or rootkit. If you are an experienced IT professional, you should know exactly what every process running on your machine is for, anything suspicious is ...

Re: Update to popularity score algorithm
I did some experiments on actual data and did not find too much difference between EMA (Exponential Moving Average) and SMA (Simple Moving Average) EMA is really only useful if you want to call attention to rapid changes in the data, spikes, troughs, etc. This is why I use it for monitoring HDD cap...

Re: Update to popularity score algorithm
What about using EMA for the last x days (30?) then add a percentage of the total votes for that app (5%?). The EMA will weight new apps that have been voted up a lot recently and the percentage of the total will add weight to all-time popular apps.

Re: Update to popularity score algorithm
The point of contention now I think it whether the list should be based on the score over the entire range, or just the past x days (or some exponentially decreasing window applied to the scores, so older scores have lower weights). Have you considered using exponential moving averages? http://en.w...

Re: About Comodo products & privacy issues
I started using Comodo Firewall on my new machine, and was planning to install on other machines. Now I wish I took the foresight that ANYTHING could be a potential privacy/security risk, even those that are supposed to protect your data. Now that I think of it.. Backdoors to the FBI, Big brother, ...

Re: Update to popularity score algorithm
I would think that since more people have voted on the +100 -100, that the confidence is greater, therefore the percentage reflects that.m^(2) wrote:Why 100+ 100- has lower popularity than 10- 10-?
