Re: rustdesk : A remote desktop software

I just came across RustDesk myself and wanted to see if anyone posted about it on TPFC and sure enough, someone already did! :) Just did a quick test and RustDesk is not stealth. Saves settings in %appdata%\RustDesk\ and also saves a locally-extracted version to %localappdata%\rustdesk\. Someone els...

Re: Fastest method for deleting massive directories in Windows

I've ran into this same problem before, Andrew.

I didn't have to delete 10TB, but using Explorer to delete was painful. The command-line is definitely the way to go for this.

Re: Thunderbird - email and calendar client

This is a list of 421 remote code execution vulnerabilities in Thunderbird . If you're bored, try finding one that doesn't exploit web tech. I guess you could say I was bored :) This number isn't exactly related to using HTML email. If you sort by CVE Number Descending, you can see that the latest ...

Re: Keypirinha - Windows Launcher

Recently gave this a try. This launcher isn't that bad! Uses about 25MB RAM and about 24MB uncompressed disk space. However, configuration is entirely text-based, which can be troublesome for those used to a GUI. I kind of dig it though! Has a Packages concept that extends the behavior of what you t...

Re: Flow Launcher

For anyone that is testing Flow, can you let me know what the average memory usage is? Executor uses about 10MB RAM over here. Edit - Flow uses about 135MB RAM according to this thread: https://github.com/Flow-Launcher/Flow.Launcher/issues/128#issuecomment-761001042. That's a little too high for me....

AmpShell - DOSBox Frontend

As I mentioned in the D-Fend Reloaded topic , I was looking into DOSBox and wanted to test out some frontends and came across AmpShell. Website: https://ampshell.tuxfamily.org/ Github: https://github.com/maximilien-noal/AmpShell/ AmpShell has a custom portable package that includes the latest versio...

Re: DRM again

I'm still running Firefox 80, mostly because of uncertainty about how much newer versions of the browser can be tweaked. Until recently I had DRM disabled and uninstalled (IIRC the Widevine addon has something to do with DRM) but went ahead and checked DRM in Options and installed Widevine so I cou...

Re: Flow Launcher

One look at the ZIP filesize of Flow Launcher tells me all I need to know. It's 192MB!

As for Executor, you should be able to disable its caching under the 'Settings - Indexing & Cache' options menu.

Re: D-Fend Reloaded - DOSBOX Frontend

I started having a minor interest in DOSBox and was looking for frontends that were still in active development. Unfortunately, D-Fend Reloaded hasn't been updated in seven years. I only found one DOSBox frontend still in development: AmpShell. Website: https://ampshell.tuxfamily.org/ Github: https:...

Actually, you added the warning before. I just changed "Chromium" to "X-Chromium" since X-Chromium is the one that is out-of-date and not Chromium.

Re: Chromium Portable - web browser

So, I'm thinking we should either change this listing to henrypp's chrlauncher or create a new one for it: https://github.com/henrypp/chrlauncher It does everything unofficial Chromium Portable used to do, but supports other builds of Chromium (like Ungoogled Chromium) by changing a value in its .i...

Re: Best Firefox add-ons [was "plugin(s)"]

I've tested Firefox Translations on-and-off over the past month or so and it does remarkably well. It's still alpha/beta quality, but it's getting better. You might need a decent CPU for translations to render quickly though.

Re: Firefox - web browser

I'm still on v91.12.0 here -- and have an older v8x.x elsewhere... There are no more security updates for v91 ESR after this month, so beware. You could try using SeaMonkey or Waterfox if you value an older Firefox UI interface, but they are usually even slower to backport security fixes. For examp...

Re: Firefox - web browser

ESR basically fixes the Firefox version for one year. You get security updates for that version and that's it.

By annoyances, I'm guessing the new features or changes that are included in the regular releases.
