Yuck indeed, and a real shame. This is one of the better-looking writing clients I've seen.Midas wrote:... morphed into some kind of cloud/social writing client with a paid monthly subscription model (yuck!)

Re: Nominate the best new portablefreeware of 2015
1. AdwCleaner would get my first vote. It's a solid program for what it does. Never had to use it recently, but in the past this thing saved my butt. For those of us with less computer-savvy family members, it's great for removing malware that hijacks their search engines, adds browser toolbars, etc...

I think this holds the record for the most epic thread bump at 8 years (or depending on how you look at it, 9 years)

Re: OneWay Backup
This is completely off-topic but I just wanted to say thank you for your software. I love your audio/video encoders and your video downloader. I was looking for a backup/sync-type program and I'll definitely test this one out.

Aural Probe: a sample browser
I thought I'd share this neat little app here, for those of you with massive sample/loop collections. It extracts with 7-Zip, accepts relative path links, and seems to store its config in the app folder, but I'm not sure if it's truly portable. Anywho, what it does is that it scans your sample direc...

Re: Comparing ebook readers
I've found that when viewing epubs, particularly the non-fiction kind with pictures, caption formatting and whatnot, that SumatraPDF is vastly inferior to Calibre. I downloaded some epubs on photography a while back and unwittingly opened them in Sumatra, only to find that either these were some of ...

Re: Everything Video Editor
I would just like to point out that Natron and Wax are compositing applications rather than pure video editors. I've done some video work over time but never heard of that so I looked it up: A video composite occurs when you do something to your video that combines two or more streams of video so t...

Any app that allows folder tagging?
I'm in a situation where I have a directory full of well over 1000 folders (1469, to be exact), and I need some tool that will allow me to "tag" these folders into categories. This is obviously for searching purposes. I looked at Tagspaces, which I thought was the perfect solution to my pr...

Re: Everything Video Editor
I would just like to point out that Natron and Wax are compositing applications rather than pure video editors. Sure, one could do some editing in them, but the interface (particularly Natrons) is geared towards people who are familiar with Nuke , a high-end compositing solution. Another thing: I in...

Extracting setup files: effect on PC performance?
Hello :D [I'm reposting this from a thread I also just started on PortableApps in order to get as much opinions as possible.] The main reason I use portable apps is to keep my computer running as fast as possible. So far for the majority of software I use I've managed to find a portable version or a...
