Re: Is Opera 12 standard portable or not ?

that's because the adblock extension does not use opera's urlfilter.ini. it works with it's own files. can't tell how, though. and if you want to create your own rules, you can add them to the 'personal list' section, in adblock's preferences. then you restart opera, and voila! :) [restart is neces...

Re: HostsMan

You do need administrator rights to edit the hosts file. In my (limited) experience, I don't I have to reboot after editing my hosts file, nor do I flush the DNS cache. I just close the browser. I sometimes replace my MVPs hosts file with the default file using HostsXpert (which has many, but not a...

Re: HostsMan

Thanks for the roundup, I'll try it. It does require admin rights, right? I mean changing the hosts file. Is reboot also needed? not sure about admin. rights.. i have UAC disabled permanently.. Reboot is recommended which flushes your DNS so your new updated 'hosts' will take effect. I always do it...

Re: HostsMan

this is my favorite 'hosts' editor. unlike other similar software that is just an 'editor': HostsMan has an optional local server, updates, optimizes, finds duplicates, and easy to use. Andrew is correct: unfortunately this is not portable or stealth. I find this app. so useful i created a launcher ...

Re: calibre

I believe the registry "functions" are actually macros, so it's a different syntax: ${registry::DeleteKey} "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Trolltech" thanks for the help.. but that's not the correct syntax. im familiar with NSIS and have successfully compiled many launchers. Really? That's the syntax I...

How To Stop Jehovah Witness Visits?

About a month and a half ago, these people came to my door to preach and try to recruit me to their 'Kingdom Hall'. Being a respectful/polite person, i listened to their speech and at the end kindly told them im not interested. yet.. they have been coming to my house ever since? Sometimes i see them...

Re: calibre

i tried to create an NSIS launcher for this but can't figure out why it refuses to work.

Im using

Code: Select all

DeleteRegKey HKEY_CURRENT_USER "Software\Trolltech
and yes.. i have:

Code: Select all

!include "Registry.nsh"
.

anyone have an idea?

Note:
the launcher successfully compiles, launches, and terminates.

Re: Windows without antivirus (Google Translate)

The "Survival Kit" mentioned in the article lacks disk images. With disk images, it is possible to restore the entire computer to an earlier state. I find them a very important way to stay secure. i cannot agree with you more .. i have never used Windows' Backup & Restore feature until Windows 7 ca...

I posted later that they've fixed it. cool :) i still experience a minor but VERY annoying bug. when i enter a search term in the Speed Dial's search, and p...

Re: How to : Remove registry settings after program executio

very good idea, but i use NSIS: it's more robust, and is capable of doing alot more.

PAF is way cooler though, but im so used to NSIS i would need to relearn everything so i just stick with NSIS.
