Re: USB Repair

@rbon: Do you think you could add this to the database so that we can vote it public? I wouldn't mind doing it myself, but I don't have any personal experience with this tool yet, so might not be the best person to describe the tool (if I do it, I will probably just cut-and-paste the author's descri...

Re: Scheduled downtime

Seems like the scheduled update is done and took the entire 12 hours as far as I can tell.

Just happy it didn't go over the allotted schedule, as these things are prone to do.

Re: Removing Windows 95/98/ME?

E.g., I've been pondering setting up a Win98 VM for some old programs and games -- even making it amenable to be carried around in the smartphone... In a pinch, if you are feeling nostalgic, you can always fire Win95 up in your browser :D https://www.pcjs.org/software/pcx86/sys/windows/win95/4.00.9...

Re: QtlMovie (multimedia converter utility)

I was digging around for another GUI frontend to FFMPEG that will solve an encoding program for me, and came across this. QtlMovie is a really neat program, and ticks a lot of boxes. Unfortunately, it is not portable as it writes settings to HKCU\Software\QtlMovie\QtlMovie . So I will move this topi...

Re: Removing Windows 95/98/ME?

So what are your thoughts on this? Should we finally get rid of Win95/98/ME?

Scheduled downtime

Just received notice from my VPS provider that there's a scheduled downtime on 22 May 8am to 8pm PDT for some networking equipment upgrade. So don't be alarmed if you are unable to access TPFC during that time frame.

Cheers!

Re: Removing Windows 95/98/ME?

And I am glad to report that my assertion 10 years ago: Not true. Although WinNT and above use Unicode in the underlying system, most applications are still ANSI only. That's what the "Language for Non-Unicode Programs" setting in the Control Panel is all about. If set to the default "English", ANSI...

Re: Classic Browser (Chromium based)

For me, the first criteria of portability is nicely summed by this : Allmost all "portabilized" chromium-based browsers have a serious problem recently (generally with Chromium 59, I think) : they are not truly portable any more ! Namely, when transferring to another PC (e.g. via USB stick), all the...

CudaText v1.131.0.0 released (changelog at https://cudatext.github.io/history.txt).

FYI, CudaText homepage changed to https://cudatext.github.io/ (previous http://uvviewsoft.com/cudatext/ now redirects here, too).
I have updated the relevant db fields.
