Re: Bandizip V1.0.3

[...] I've found the latter a lot much faster than 7-Zip, mainly when extracting, and overall I am very pleased with it, and with the fact that is natively portable. [...]. Have you seen this? The answer to the question "which compression program is best" depends on what you care about (see the sec...

Super PI (also SuperPi, fast prime number calculator)

Old topic update: Super PI Mod is currently v1.90 (released 2013-07-08; changelog at http://www.superpi.net/ ). Thanks, I did search the net and TPFC, but this was new to me -- I was aware of the others. :D

I'm considering opening a thread at the "Portable Hardware" sub-forum concerning this...

Re: TPFC down for the whole of yesterday

Not to charge the issue more than it already is, but this is a matter of current debate, with far broader implications than those apparent at first. I'd recommend the recent Consent of the networked by Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society ex-fellow and current Global Network Initiative ...

Datamarck (HD benchmarking)

EDIT : Datamarck site is dead, so here's a working link -- http://www.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/Datamarck-Screenshot-93372.html ... I'm looking into USB drives benchmarking right now and found this, which I believe isn't listed here at TPFC, so I'm submitting it for forum consideration... Datam...

HD Tach was a software program for Microsoft Windows (2000 or XP) that tests the sequential read, random access and interface...

Sorry, developing skills here only go as far as batch files... but I'm sure Assox will find someone. :)

Re: Utility to set default browser in Windows7

Thanks, tproli. My remark was motivated by surprise, since Assox seems to be a portable app covering a rather poorly cared for area of OS management -- Win Seven compatibility is a non-issue, since most my rigs still run XP. Great to hear it may be going OSS. I'm curious: have you had anything to do...

Is there a reason for Assox not to be listed in the database? It seems it has been discussed plenty here at TPFC... :?:

Re: Positive press on lifehacker today...

Its called framing. People use it all the time in politics. So here in the States its "climate change" rather than "global warming" on the right or "green initiatives" rather than "industry subsidies" on the left. Yeah you know where you bring that up? Here. You know where you don't bring that up? ...
