Portability of appupdating

> Hippo uses .NET.

Yes -- as far as I can tell, only AppUpdater has even the potential to be portable. Either because it slipped past or because its not really portable, it never got accepted.

> If sb. cares, here's a long list of such programs.

Very cool -- even better.

Topic Pollution

I'm pretty sure webfork was trying to respond to m^(2)'s thread regarding "Executable packers unpacking performance tested", and hit "New Topic" instead of "Post Reply" on accident.
Yeah ... sorry about that. I edited my initial message to hopefully cut down on the confusion.

Gauging interest level

[ Edit : This post was originally saved to a separate thread, which created a lot of confusion. I hit the wrong button -- sorry about that.] --- Nobody's interested? Although this thread has been here for a while and obviously some people are interested, I wanted to reinterate that this topic is ex...

Automated update discovery programs

Found two freeware apps that seek out product version numbers and compare them to a version tracking database. This is something we should pay attention to because, as Betanews points out: "by using up-to-date software you'll reduce the risk of encountering bugs and will benefit from more features."...

Next Kitchen Sink Release

I didn't manage to download it yet (I lost connection at 100 MB...), but I already have 4 suggestions. - Find a faster hosting - Use 7zip Ultra with 96 MB dictionary if you have enough RAM. I really see no reason to use old zips anymore. - Copying dlls to system is not a good idea. A better would b...

Long (but sketchy) list of updated programs

!PLEASE NOTE! The following program updates are legitimate meaning that the version number has changed. But either the author didn't list WHY the program update was necessary or the update seemed to be a pretty modest change that doesn't make it worth listing. I leave it to the community here to de...

Bassiliin is right ... http://keepass.info/devstatus.html#whynet_port ... however, it does look like the 2.0 code is at least 6 months to a year away and much of the development seems contingent upon .NET continuing to be cross-platform and portable. If he can package the .NET libraries into the sof...

Keepass 1.13 -- .NET not required

Despite what was suggested in this thread... http://portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1479&highlight=keepass ... there do not appear to be .NET dependencies with the latest version. Additionally, the program has become very cross-platform (not XP and Vista only). 1.12 http://portablefreewa...
