Re: Scancode Map (keyboard re-mapper)

Marked. This is potentially a very useful app eg. swap Ctrl and FN keys if the BIOS doesn't support it.

Registration Q&A changed

It was good while it lasted...

The recent increase in spam posts tells me our previous registration Q&A have been breached. So I have changed the answers to thwart the dark forces.

Till next time!

Re: Video Duplicate Finder

i tried this program and it doesn't seem to detect the same video at different resolutions too well fwiw What res vids did you have? I had a couple of movies at 720p vs 1080p, and they were flagged as dups (the 720p were actually down-converted from 1080p using Handbrake, and I forgot to delete the...

Re: RLVision CCTime [time tracking utility]

Bump. I think this app deserves a second look if you are looking for a simple time tracker.

The only other time tracking app in the database is Quasima Chrono Tracker, which is slightly bulkier.

Both are .NET apps.

Re: Video Duplicate Finder

Added to database: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=3054 I came across this independently while looking for a util that will find video duplicates based on content. This is the only open-source one as far as I can tell, and super fast. I unleashed it on my 500GB collection of video file...

Re: Shotcut - video editor

I have updated the entry with the new information, and also added a link in the description to the PA entry (as we normally do for such cases). On a side note, I am appalled by such behaviour that normally wouldn't occur in the physical world. Let's face it, very few people would behave like total p...

I still use Process Monitor.

Not stealth, but fits my needs so far.

Re: Pixopedia 2014 Paint & Edit App

Added to the database: https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=3048 I am in the process of feeding my kid with various painting software for his pursuit of digital art. This one turns out to have a much steeper learning curve than he can handle. However, I get the sense that this is a really powerful t...

Re: 3D Youtube Downloader

I see. Thanks for the input. I knew forum search required a minimum of 3 characters in a word for the query to go through, but was not expecting that limitation to silently void a multi word search in the database. I know this is an old topic, but I modified the DB config to reduce the minimum sear...

Re: Combine batch of images into a PDF

Just tried WinScan2PDF. Quick and easy, works just as expected. What's not to like?

Thanks to Cornflower for the tip!

Re: Combine batch of images into a PDF

webfork , you already had the solution: FSViewer can not only convert every image to single PDF, but a whole bunch of images into one single PDF. Go to "create" > "multipage builder" Interesting: when saving a single image as PDF, the "options" button is greyed out, but if you use the multipage bui...

Updated the description with an edited version of the author's description.

I think this is a nice registry tool and our original short description didn't do it justice!

Re: Portable VirtualBox [VB launcher utility]

I'm on Windows 7 x54 SP1 and apart from the embedded Windows Defender -- which is very lenient with my frequent testing of software, by the way -- I haven't run a resident anti-virus in years (at least since 2013 ...). It's an open secret that antivirus software is hugely overrated but a great mone...

Re: Portable devices to fight planed obsolescence

I didn't know used Thinkpads are so expensive over there. Just checked. I can get a T460s for about ~S$470, half the price you quoted. Maybe the dynamics are different there. Here, business laptops are typically offloaded every 2 or 3 years when the warranty runs out. Which is fantastic if you know ...
