Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Thank you for your images. "The cutoff version numbers & "architecture"." Regarding this problem I've worked out a dirty workaround for the moment. Only possible like this currently due to an incompatibility with Windows 10 and HighDPI. "Error while trying to download th...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

About updates.. When choosing 'check for updates', it downloads 1/2 but then when trying to download 2/2 it says 'server not found' - and then doesn't install the 1st [main program?] update. (...) Also in the box that pops up displaying which version you have and which version it wants to retrieve,...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

For this part, maybe take a cue similar to how Directory Opus operates - with using 'tokens'. For instance, so one could put in that box (since I'm not good with MS-Dos scripting): I think this could be very complicated for no-experienced users to use command lines like that but I'm not sure. I'll ...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Maybe an idea: I could implement a new option that the file list gets created. A new checkbox (or something else) would indicate the user that the profile will not process any data but it will create and save the file list to the destination directory. For the user defined command the user could use...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hey lintalist,

so, the kind of mode you are talking about would just create a list of files which should be processed and THEN after the file list has been created/saved a user defined command would be executed?

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

So if you were to call it from a command line, the ONLY 2 switches that would ever need to be changed in order to support ZStandard, at maximum compression for instance, would be (...) Would be very nice if it would work like this. Unfortunately it's not. But I'll have a look anyways into the libra...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hello Hoggy and thank you very much for your feedback! Unfortunately I am not using C or C++ and the compression library I am currently using does not support broti or zstd right now. Implementing these would be possible, I'm sure. But sadly it would take a very very long time at the current state. ...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hello everyone, due to some major changes I am thinking about to implement I wanted to ask here a simple question: - which view type do you use in general? 1) big icons 2) small icons 3) list 4) "full" details My thoughts are to remove big icons (1) , small icons (2) and list (3) . Doing t...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hi siegfried, the number of used cpu cores can't be set by myself when compressing. The library I am using decides itself which cores it is using. E.g. when setting up 8 threads the library would probably use all cores on a quad core CPU. Non-solid archives are great. I will have a look into it if m...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Wouldn't it be better to put a checkbox or text box so that compression can be disabled/enabled (from user) without much hassle for chosen extensions, and where new uncompressible extensions can be added? Sure. Sounds quite better and more transparent for the user. I will work out my idea about tha...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hi Siegfried, I've tried to reproduce your issue with exactly the same setup (external HDD, Flash drive) I couldn't get the issue working. Maybe I fixed it by accident when implementing your #2. #2 has been implemented and will be available in the new update soon. jB-ArchiveOptions.jpg Edit I'm glad...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hi juglens,

could you maybe try the x86 version? Maybe it won't bug. This doesn't mean you need to use the x86 version all the time. If the x86 version doesn't bug this would just help me finding out where the problem is in the x64 version.

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Thank you kanu for your feedback. I just tested the executable you've send me and it works on my machine. I tested it on virtual machines (virtualbox, qemu) with different windows's and linux installed (Windows 10, XP, Linux Mint wine). It only worked under wine. Do you use Linux as a operating syst...

Re: jaBuT - a flexible back-up and sync program

Hi juglens, I've just double and triple checked the server files. For me everything seems to be fine. The issue you see means that the executable file was (like said in the message) modified. When downloading a file normally it doesn't get modified. Which browser do you use? Do you see the same prob...
