Re: Tiny Audio Players

Glad for the new update, __philippe.

Still using 1by1 over here, but when using the additional BASS library and plugins to support FLAC, AAC, OPUS, etc, the filesize is around 732kb over here.

Looks like AmpShell has stopped development as of January according to the GitHub page. Still worth a try if anyone is interested in DOSBox.

Re: RustDesk [remote desktop utility]

Teamviewer now requires creating a Teamviewer account in order to remote into another PC so I'm looking for alternatives.

RustDesk works well, but it isn't stealth. It writes to both %appdata% and %localappdata%. If JTH is reading, RustDesk would be a great choice for a new PA.com app.

Andrew, I reverted the v2.1 change back to v2.0 as v2.1 is a preview version.

Yeah, I mentioned LocalSend in a couple of previous threads.

It's a good app. I also recommend LanXchange as well.

unrar.dll and unrar64.dll also affected, used by third party apps (double commander, calibre to name some) -- https://www.ghacks.net/2023/08/24/winrar-security-issue-more-wide-reaching-than-thought/ [ Total Commander 11.01rc1 has updated the DLLs already - also available as download https://www.ghi...

Re: mpv (multi-platform CLI media player)

I've been playing around with mpv over the weekend and didn't know about alternative UIs or OSDs. I started using uosc as the main UI: https://github.com/tomasklaen/uosc. Pretty nifty minimalist UI. mpv is also very extensible with custom scripts. You can find a bunch here: https://github.com/mpv-pl...

Re: FreeArc

Was checking on some older apps and found that FreeArc stopped development a long time ago. The official website's domain was bought up by some domain squatters. Last version of the website can be found on archive.org - https://web.archive.org/web/20170217014803/http://freearc.org/. According to Wik...

Re: Notesnook - markdown editor

I mentioned Notesnook back in this thread.

One important thing to point out is Notesnook is cross-platform and should also work on your mobile device. I considered using Notesnook but I'm currently using Standard Notes which has a more, established presense in this space.

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows

Hey jv16, I checked out your blog post about your foray into uninstallers and I appreciate the attention to detail where you list where those other uninstall apps failed to satisfy your needs. You didn't like those ones, so you built your own! :) Revo Uninstaller has been my go-to since it does neat...

Re: PSA: Uninstall Avast Free

Thank Wladimir Palant for exposing the whole Avast Jumpshot scandal to begin with. Avast got away with this for seven years. The thing is not many people are doing packet analysis for cybersecurity programs. Most tech blogs just review the end product and AV detection rates and there is not enough a...

Re: Sigma file manager

Looks like a nice file manager, but when I read the requirements and the memory usage, this shuns me away from trying it: Requirements: Memory (RAM): minimum: ~100 MB, average: ~400 MB; Storage: minimum: ~370 MB; OS: 64-bit: Windows, Linux; webfork, can you list your memory usage for Sigma and the s...
