TreeLine - much more than an outliner!

How I've missed this application before I'll never know! TreeLine is much more than the usual 'TreePad' kind of outliner: it can store and format different datatypes for each node - like a "proper" database manager. Also, it has a wide variety of import/export options, one of the most useful being f...

TextMaker Viewer

I haven't had much time to look at this free program in detail, but RegShot and RegScanner showed no unexpected registry changes. TextMaker Viewer from http://www.officeviewers.com/ allows you to open, view and print all common word processing formats - useful for Word .doc and especially OpenDocume...

File synchronization - another suggestion

@Darkbee: Have you tried ViceVersa Free 1.0.3 available from: http://www.tgrmn.com/free/ ? You can install / copy / uninstall or use Universal Extractor to extract the executable and help files from the setup.exe. It puts some entries in the registry at HKCU\Software\TGRMN but these are pretty strai...

Stragglers ...

@Darkbee: Have you tried the free version of X-Cleaner to combat ad/spy-ware? It's available from: http://www.xblock.com/download-freeware.php and comes as a single executable which only writes a handful of trivial entries to the registry at HKCU\Software\XCleaner. I've found its detection rate to b...

DiscLib good, but ...

DiscLib seems very good with a lot of functionality.

Unfortunately, it added 312 entries to my registry at HKCU, and I can't see a way of writing its settings to an .ini file instead.

Thanks for finding out about this gem

This program was just what I was looking for - small and portable, but with many useful features. It's not that I don't like The Gimp, it's just that this is so much neater and cleaner, doing most of what I need.
Thanks for finding it!

File Navigator 1.71

File Navigator 1.71 from http://www.relaxander.webest.net/index.php?id=1 seems a very good file manager indeed, and I've used it quite a bit over the last couple of months. To ensure it keeps its settings in the program folder, select the option Commands / Configuration / Compatibility / Store confi...

Andrew, sorry to hear you're having difficulty downloading from RapidShare. I've checked and the file is definitely still accessible. I know that you can't use a download accelerator with RapidShare (free service), and I wonder if you are using a proxy of some sort. If you still can't get a hold of ...

Sync Expert does the job well

I certainly agree with Dave's comments above - Sync Expert seems to have been overlooked by many people. A nice and neat little utility. I would just add that the readme.txt file provides some help information.

@Justin: Yes, folk should make up their own minds about Gmail and the level of risk to their privacy, but at least debate like this should let them make a more informed choice. There is more respected comment available such as: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01/24/google_privacy_poll/ and http://...
