Re: Dithering in PNG files?

Then I converted the picture to indexed color mode. I converted it with GIMP. I let it generate optimized palette of 255 colors and turned dithering off. The resulting file was 64 kilobytes. Finally, I converted the original picture to indexed color mode again. Again, I used GIMP and allowed it to ...

Re: ShareX

Has anyone noticed that the included image editor no longer saves its window size in recent versions? So if you resize the editor (which I do, I find it too small on my display), and then close ShareX, you will find that when you open it back up, the editor window is at the default size again. I am ...

Tooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow. I want something that starts up instantly, not have to wait a few seconds each time for IE or Firefox.

Re: Xlideit Image Viewer

No, you are correct - they are different formats. They both do the same job though - save webpages - which is why I mentioned MAF (or MAFF as it is sometimes written) alongside MHT (I thought you were asking about formats which did the same job as MHT, if not, I misunderstood). I wasn't aware of the...

Re: Xlideit Image Viewer

although it's little more than an HTML variant, I can't recall any alternatives for that effect... 8) Not sure if you were referring to the viewer, or the format. If the format, MAF (Mozilla Archive Format) is the only other format that I can think of similar to MHT. It's open source - but as far a...

Re: Xlideit Image Viewer

From the top of the head, I recall that both MycView ( http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2251 ) and NexusImage ( http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2050 ) do it, too -- only NexusImage does it vertically instead of horizontally, which makes a lot more sense for the current breed of 16:9 monitors...

For individual files (as opposed to containers), I prefer AxCrypt myself:

Re: Xlideit Image Viewer

Finally, another image viewer that has the brilliant row of thumbnails (Xlideit calls it an 'image list') list ala FastStone Image Viewer :) I think this one is permanently shown though, whereas FastStone's only shows when you mouse to the top of the screen (I prefer the way FastStone does it). Not ...

Re: ShareX

Oh, of course - thanks! Has anyone else noticed that the Add button in the image effects dialog sometimes (maybe 1 time in 10 or 20) does nothing when you click it? It works when I click it a second time though. It could just be something on my system, but it is just a little odd.

Re: ShareX

Just curious - the screenshots of both webfork and Jaex show the watermark below the actual captured image. Just fooling with the settings on my install to see what it can do, and even when I match those settings, the watermark is directly on the image for me. What am I doing differently?

@webfork: Isn't it just a matter of re-enabling After capture tasks -> Add image effects?

Re: ShareX

I think romulous is suspicious just because we've been through this a whole lot of programs that started out freeware and then went adware, bundleware, nagware, etc. Correct, that's exactly why I was suspicious. Please remember we're your friends here, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on....

Re: ShareX

Hm, it is pretty disappointing (and a little shady) that they snuck this in without drawing attention to it. I read the release notes when I updated my install, and I did not see that entry - based on your post, I went back and read them again and I see the entry now, but it still does not say that ...
