Re: UserBenchMark
UserBenchmark got recently involved in a scandal. Their online CPU database is weighted to blatantly favor Intel processors over AMD. https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/dzdacg/userbenchmark_now_ignores_more_than_8_cores_rates/ This Reddit thread links to a UserBenchmark comparison that ranks...

Re: Enable portability with Nircmd
Sorry to say - but for this you don't need Nircmd ;-) In the second line you can simply add the "/wait" (start /wait) switch, it does the job as well. Most non-portable programs, even those with cluttered and complex settings/entries can be made portable with simple batch files like this - the "/wa...

Re: Yet another TPFC milestone
I wonder why we reached a new record. Maybe it's related to the CLI database efforts?

Re: Media Player Classic - Home Cinema
All sites have switched to clsid 's release, i think Xhmikos is no longer developing MPC, i think the official project is dead https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=175209 In fact, I'm a bit surprised that the domain hasn't been handed over to clsid. There isn't much reason for the former develo...

Re: What exactly is non-commerial use?
Hmm... I expected you to say it is commercial use. :D This kind of blurriness makes me more understanding of the permissive open source licenses such as MIT. Like who needs this headache? Here is the software, do what you want! Or alternatively, if you're making money, don't be that cheap and just ...

Re: Site broken
This litany of login aggravation is no doubt an unfortunate side-effect of the initial problem Andrew had to fight long and hard needlessly, because some third party sloppy coding habits suppressed the creation of an error log... Nah, judging from his thread it's far more likely a known side...

Re: VPN experiences so far (seeking recommendations)
I have used NordVPN and it has been fine for my needs. However, my needs aren't that complicated (I don't need macOS or iOS support) and thus your experience may be different.

Re: CLI Database Discussions
Also add www to cli.portablefreeware.com or remove from portablefreeware.com I like having www.portablefreeware.com and cli.portablefreeware.com . I don't want www to be added or removed from either subdomain. I'd probably push the "Included tools" to a sub-menu of some sort where you click on some...

Re: What exactly is non-commerial use?
But what exactly is non-commercial use. AFAIK, "commercial use" simply refers to using the program for work. When I was working in an office, I made a point not to use "non-commercial use only" programs at the work PC. I now work as a freelancer and the line is a bit blurrier now, but there is stil...

Re: CLI Database Discussions
I went to add four more programs to the CLI database (Swiss File Knife, Git for Windows, Strings and NTLEAS).
I agree with Andrew that there isn't much point to have visible tags. I'm opposed to having any kind of tag system.
