Re: VLC - media player
It's more portable than before. Your vlc-qt-interface.ini and ml.xspf files will be contained in the portable directory instead of residing in APPDATA, so we won't have to move them back and forth for VLC Portable. Your vlcrc will be contained in the portable directory just as it would before with t...

Re: Gpg4win - encryption tools
I might retry the GPG4Win portability process in the near future ... I noticed this in the GPG4Win changelog from back in November: The mkportable process can be used again to create a portable Gpg4win variant. http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/gpg4win-Changelog-35240.html This appears to just...

Re: Suggestions for anti-spambot Q&A
The only things that seem to work today are distributed blacklists and content analysis. You won't keep spambots out now because they farm out captchas to real humans. Keep a basic captcha like Google's ReCaptcha for account signups just to keep out the lowest automated ones, but don't worry beyond ...

Re: Addressing malware
If you did a VirusTotal scan on each app update to ensure it was clean and published the associated hashes, end users could check hashes themselves to be sure. We do something similar on PortableApps.com. Every release is checked on VirusTotal, MetaDefender, and/or in-house with 2-4 major antivirus ...

Re: winLAME Portable Edition
I'm testing this program on a 32-bit system and the main program (not the PAF) won't launch. Is this 64-bit only? You're likely missing the VC runtimes. If it's your own system, you can install them from the installer within the package. Or you can wait to see if the publisher updates to the versio...

Re: winLAME Portable Edition
I dropped the publisher an updated version that bundles the VC runtimes, removes the splash, adjusts paths, and a few more touch ups. Hopefully it will be updated.

Re: winLAME Portable Edition
The splash screen was probably accidentally left in the PortableApps.com Template that this was built from. Once you download the app, you can delete the file App\AppInfo\Launcher\splash.jpg to remove it.

But what about the Mozilla-Folder in Local? Does anyone else have this with subfolders (see screenshot in my last reply)? Read the page I linked above. I addressed this right in the bug report. And it's fixed in the upcoming launcher which is available for download on the bug report page. Uh, he ha...

See the comment above yours for the fix.zorro wrote:Now I updated the whole installation (checked registry and AppData for left-overs) and well, it's the same. It doesn't bother me - just curious why it happens and if I'm alone (no, saw the answers).

Re: Firefox Portable
Is there anything in those folders for you? It's got code that runs on exit to remove them when they are empty (including several nested folders). Note that this will not work if you have firefox.exe associated with files or run directly other than via the launcher as it will mess up Firefox's proce...
