As online advertising becomes ever more ubiquitous and unsanctioned, AdNauseam works to complete the cycle by automating ad click...

Re: Hashing use cases (why would I want to hash my files?)

From time to time (every other backup or so), I create a SFV that contains the hashes of all the files on that HDD. Good to know. Your post solves a lingering blank spot I had about my hashing strategy... 8) I also mostly RapidCRC , along with an older copy of TeraCopy for quick verification (just ...

Re: RJ TextEd - Unicode text and source editor

A while back, hamasaki complained (www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2206#comment30715) RJ TextEd wasn't entirely portable; any confirmations?

Re: Other TPFC-adjacent projects

A portable Android emulator would get my close attention, for sure. I've seen a few steps taken in that direction, rapidly nuked by the developers themselves (fearing loss of revenue?)...

Re: LameXP - audio conversion

Quick note to point out that another viable alternative for encoding, for anyone willing to deal with the CLI, is FFmpeg, which also gets updated fairly often and has the additional advantage of being multi-platform -- it even works on my Android phone, no packs or codecs needed...

DS4Windows (gaming controller utility)

I own a couple of PS4 controllers but unfortunately they've been taken away by my cub for ' quaranteen ' reasons making me unable to test the program in any significant way. But it doesn't make any less interesting, IMHO, a controller utility that claims portability from the get go, so here it is. D...

Re: What is your largest app on your portable drive?

I remember when I had to move my utilities to a second 1.44mB floppy, if I wanted to keep one as a boot disk (Dos 3.3 through 6.2). Now all my straight portable utilities are 1.43gB, NOT counting portables VLC, LibreOffice, and Firefox. Those were the days. Those were the days, indeed. Bloat never ...
