Re: PDF SAM = PDF Split And Merge
Many updates from when this was last discussed, with the most recent release in January. Now at v.4.2.2 https://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/pdfsam-Changelog-36199.html Most notably you can arrange PDF files ahead of time and modify the names to get them to assemble in order. I don't think I've s...

Re: Orpalis PDF OCR Free Edition - Easily convert image PDF into searchable PDF file
I ran some basic tests and can confirm that the program works well on batches of files, even whole folders. It's not exceedingly fast or super accurate, but it definitely does the job very well for a free program, and maintains your directory structure to help keep things organized. Once again, this...

Re: ControlMK
Did you test it? I was delayed on this because I couldn't find a cable connector for my old xbox 360 device. Anyway, I connected it and just get a blinking green circle on the controller. Neither controller seemed to work. https://i.imgur.com/YlsrNhk.png The xbox site for connecting to Win10 unfort...

Re: Sublime Text
While Sublime is in the unregistered evaluation mode, you get nag popups after every few saves to remind you that you haven’t paid for it yet. Additionally, you need a license key to be able to use the development versions of Sublime, if that’s important to you. Thanks for doing some research on my...

Re: Orpalis PDF OCR Free Edition - Easily convert image PDF into searchable PDF file
Whatever else this program has, I definitely like seeing a batch OCR program. It's painful to convert dozens of documents into PDF and then open each individually in PDF XChange or similar tools to have it process separate. Good suggestion. One question: is the timer a thing that makes the nagscreen...

Re: OpenMPT portable audio tracker
I came back to this and looks to be natively portable without any additional tweaks. I've updated the entry (https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=3013) and voted. Thanks to toitoy for adding it to the database.

Re: SuperGeek Free Document OCR
I've been satisfied mostly with the PDF-XChange OCR process but I can definitely say it's hit and miss depending on the font. Did you try testing out the FreeOCR process? Does it work well?

Re: Site seems to be lacking/missing/maybe just slow on updates recently?
I do get a lot of spam emails with all kinds of proposals.. running ads, post for $$$ etc. I have mostly ignored them because I am a tech guy who hates dealing with biz stuff. Hey if it's not something that you think would have high effort-to-benefit ratio, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure we ca...

Update: now at v.7.12 -- I couldn't find a changelog outside of Softpedia, which was in both German and English: https://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog ... 46722.html

Also could give away VPN trials, something like that. Andrew is welcome to chime in here, but to my knowledge the current ad revenue is only just paying for hosting/bandwidth. I'm not sure he would want to hand that off to a company for site promotions. Regardless, it's a creative idea and I welcom...

Are there any Sublime Text users here on the site? I just downloaded the portable version and, apart from the UNREGISTERED message at the top of the window, it appears to be fully functional. Are there nags somewhere down the road?

Also, a bit of an update on this from LWN with the suggestion by multiple distro maintainers will move away from Chromium . Re: Mouse Recorder Premium no portable version on the homepage
Hi Tony and welcome to the site. Lots of confusion here: the home page is fastautoclicker.com but the actual program name is "Auto Clicker." I tried to search for a Softpedia link for either of those but came up nil. The program name in the toolbar of the screencapture of is "Auto Click Typer", whic...

Re: Softmaker FreeOffice
It started asking for a "free product key". Wants email. "Trial" can be reset by deleting \SoftMaker\Settings\ofwfo18config.ini although you'd have to redo a couple of settings (or copy FirstDayTime and FirstDayHash from the newly generated file into your old one and overwrite the new file). I'm st...
