Re: LosslessCut
I haven't had a chance to test it, but this latest release (v3.33.1) advertises portability:

Other TPFC-adjacent projects
Over the years I've come across a dozen or so projects that I could have easily cloned myself to work on as a side project full time. I've had this list for a few years now and it's becoming clear that I'll never get to some of these. Fortunately, some actually got started or made some progress than...

Re: Meowtec Imagine (batch image optimizer)
Always interested in these types of programs -- thanks for posting. Status : not portable, writes to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Imagine\ . The program is Electron based, so I wasn't surprised. Resources (megs): RAM: 60 across four processes, Disk Space: 140 Any idea on how to setup Imagemagic...

Re: VSCodium (FLOSS version of VSCode)
Very interesting -- I was under the impression that Visual Studio Code was open source, which is not the case. VSCode is open source. The only difference is that Microsoft's official builds have the telemetry and branding. (If you consider VSCode closed source by this rationale, then Firefox wouldn...

Re: WizTree
Is anyone else able to confirm that WizTree 3.36 is making Internet connections when "check for updates" is off? I'm unable to replicate this problem on my side. I've have it on my todo list to perform a much more thorough view of tracking program activity and connections as part of my portable tes...

Re: Hashing use cases (why would I want to hash my files?)
Two more use cases ... Source agnostic - It doesn't matter if you download it from a trusted website, file sharing network, obscure backup, or a thumb drive lost in an airport, the file only requires that it has the right hash. This doesn't mean any medium is a trusted medium (outdated browsers can ...

Re: LameXP - audio conversion
Things might "seem fine" but the encoders are very outdated and who knows how many bugs get fixed in the meantime between version releases. There are certainly classes of applications where outdated software means both fewer features and poor security (especially web browsers) but audio compression...

Re: What is your largest app on your portable drive?
I have wondered numerous times what massive apps other portable software users use. My largest app is Kiwix wikipedia, right at 85 gigabytes. Well now you're just showing off. The closest app I have to that size is LibreOffice Portable "Still" version, at 780 megs. I think the largest one I ever te...

Re: VSCodium (FLOSS version of VSCode)
Just heard of VSCodium , " Free/Libre Open Source Software Binaries of VSCode "; VSCodium portability setup mimics VSCode 's and info can be checked at the following URL: Very interesting -- I was under the impression that Visual Studio Code was open source, which is not the case. I know they try t...

Re: LameXP - audio conversion
Well, you know, being "trapped" in the home office for ~1 year now doesn't exactly add to my motivation. You would think that you have more free time available now (because no commuting etc. pp.), but reality is that I spend most evenings getting the work finished that didn't progress over the day ...

Re: MediaPurge - audio library tools
I couldn't find that anywhere on the site -- where did you find that?
I suppose it doesn't matter, I was just hoping this was something the developer was actively maintaining and not a one off done for an old version.
Either way, thanks for the update.

Re: MiTeC freewares
too bad these apps arent portable i like the Weather Agent one in particular Yeah MiTeC is a great freeware source -- it saves a few too many settings to qualify as an edge-case portable program: [Main] FormVersion=0 ShowCmd=1 Flags=0 PixelsPerInch=96 MinMaxPos(1440x900)=-1,-1,-1,-1 MinMaxPos=-1,-1...
