Re: Latest SARDU bundled with Adware ???
Extract the contents of SARDU_1 file with 7-zip, delete bi.exe, repackage it (7-zippit) and put the SARDU_1 file (no extension) back in the application folder. Tested only once to make sure SARDU will run and have no plans to spend anymore time on it. Good luck. Thanks I am Baas, I will give this a...

Re: Latest SARDU bundled with Adware ???
I never said malicious. I agree ... my post was merely indicating the bundling of Adware. I didn't write the SARDU forum entry (just indicated it was related to my post) . Anyone know if there is a "clean" copy of the latest version anywhere? Or if there is any way to remove the bundled &q...

Warning to other fans of SARDU ...
The latest version (2.0.6.3) appears to bundle some adware

Re: anyone else use bats as shortcuts
I've been doing something like this for years. Was never too bothered about portable launchers. I use a lot of internet cafes and kept getting viruses sometimes destroying half my portable app collection. I started compressing each app and using a bat file + command line app to extract and run from ...

Re: WallpaperSwitcher
Sorry for the delay getting back to this. After testing on XP SP3 I found strange results ... * Initially WallpaperSwitcher will not operate * However after waiting 3-4 minutes it starts then operates as expected. Unfortunately I have no idea what the problem could be and limited access to a WinXP m...

Re: WallpaperSwitcher
Win 7 does have an auto wallpaper changer; however I've had problems with it, plus it lacks some of the features I've found (or want to find) in wallpaperswitcher. The auto wallpaper changer in Win 7 just seems to stop working intermitantly for me, whereas I've had complete success with wallpaperswi...

Re: WallpaperSwitcher
Oh no, sounds like I've made some mistakes :-( Like I said, unfortunately I'm not much of a programmer, more a hacker of code. Strangely all the features you mention work on my pc running Windows 7 (except png which I haven't tested). Can you please tell me your OS and any relevant desktop settings ...

Re: WallpaperSwitcher
With the original author's consent, I've been hacking at the source code of this app. I've added ... * GUI folder selection * Image size reduction (keeping aspect ratio) * GUI settings change (for main settings) * Tray option to show current wallpaper in explorer window I'm not much of a programmer/...

Re: USB Defender
Does it protect the computer or the flash drive? Does it block the PC from running executable files stored on the flash drive? Does it block the PC from saving files to the flash drive? Sounds like a nice piece of software, but I'd love to know how it works (or at least exactly what it does). The au...

Re: Multi-boot cd during computer startup?
Do I understand correctly, are you asking about a multi-boot CD? (this enables you to boot your PC using an OS stored on the CD instead of the HDD) To create a multi-boot cd, check out Bart's way ( http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#multimemdisk ). For repair/recovery I recommend ( http://www.ultimatebootcd...

Shooter Media Player - competition for VLC ?
Found an interesting review of SPlayer on gHacks ... http://www.ghacks.net/2009/11/24/splayer-a-new-windows-media-player/ Have no PC of my own right now and in an internet cafe so can't test this app for usefulness or portability. I plan to keep a keen eye on this as it sounds very promising. Smalle...
