Hey Simon,
I like this one and might give it a try. Unfortunately it is .Net 2 :(

I posted this to the database and added a note about the path issue. If I understand it correctly, it is keeping track of the apps by their path, so if the path to an app differs between machines, then TimeTracker sees it as two different apps. Thanks.

I must say that I love this app. The only problem that I can think of is the hooking dll (pitadll.dll if I remember correctly) seems to stay hooked. I've run into that problem a couple of times when trying to upgrade to newer versions, such that I am usually forced to kill the processes that remaine...

Hey Bryce, Don't worry, your post has not been ignored, I just haven't had time to run test it out on a machine where it is not already installed (I already have it installed on my laptop, waiting for some spare time at the work machines). BTW, you can turn off the typing sound: Ctrl+P to open the s...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but TimeTracker, which seems kind of cool, also seems to require .NET. Filalyzer writes its settings for the window placement, as well as others to the registry.

I tried AudioNut (Lite) today. While it does appear to be portable (settings written to its own directory) it also seems really buggy. Crashed on me 3 times. Still on the fence. Does anyone else use this app? Any thoughts? Thanks. [EDIT] Extreme Password Generator Pro has been added to the database....

No problem at all. It is a great list, just still working my way through it :). Siren has been added. Sorry to end this post on a bad note, but The Guide (another app that I use on a regular basis) keeps settings in the registry as well. Damn.

Wow, quite a list. I have downloaded almost all of them, but haven't gotten a chance to test many. So far Siren looks good (2.0 is available now), actually great for me. Cornice, however, writes files to my user folder (a .cornice directory that contains the settings for the app). I will add Siren l...

Hey Rob,
The difference is that those dependency (in just about all cases) are DLLs that get copied to the application's directory, not installed on the host. Unfortunately that isn't something that can be done with .Net.

The problem is that .Net is not considered a "Critical" update, so even if it is pushed out, it isn't always installed. Also, the problem arises of what version? 1.1? 2? 3? While I agree that it is a shame (I'm a .Net developer and know of a bunch of great apps that are .Net and portable i...
