WinFindr 1.4 - A new way to search for files and registry data
WinFindr is a free, lightweight data searching app for Windows. It can search for files, folders as well as registry data. This is how it looks like: https://winfindr.com/assets/screenshots/dark_mode/winfindr_search2.png Key features: Search using multiple search terms at the same time, also with a ...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
You are correct, Windows does in fact highlight the selected (i.e. items with the tick in the checkbox) this way. I shall add that to the next version of Uninstalr. Thank you both for pushing for this!

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
On this, I have to agree with FileHandler personally. Ticking the checkboxes but not highlighting the lines themselves is just odd to a Windows old-timer like myself. I mean, I don't think it's as dangerous as FileHandler has made it out to be, but it's just... odd. Automatically highlighting or so...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Don't know what you mean by it "just" highlights the rows. Highlight = Select, it is the same thing, these are the rows that will be operated on, the boxes are optional, in fact, they may have scrolled out of sight, depending on window size and row length. With or without checkboxes, the ...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
what did you expect it to do? This functionality is how lists like this usually work. Well, on every computer I have worked on the last 20 years, shift-clicking highlights all lines in between, no matter whether inside a spreadsheet or file manager or any kind of list that consists of rows. MS Expl...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
I use Dark Mode. I did not mention my scary experience with Shift-selecting. But since you mention it, this is what happens: Shift-clicking does NOT highlight the lines in between. Which makes you think it does not work, just like Ctrl-clicking does not work, either, so you think nothing much about...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Guess, my main problem is with the design and layout. I find it hard to distinguish captions from less important, purely informative text. Unless you really read over all the small print scattered throughout the window. Just like I missed the main menu, I also missed the Search-field. Although I di...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Just type "con" and it will show only all apps whose name or publisher name contains Does not work here. The list remains the same, no filter is applied, it does not even jump to the first entry that starts with the letter I typed. To confirm: Are you typing to the "search" fiel...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Maybe you could add a button for "Deep Scan". From a user perspective, when I start an app I want to interact with it right away, orient myself, browse the interface, the options, feel at home, sort of. Being forced to sit idle and watch a seemingly frozen progress bar, well, it threw me ...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
[*]The search for installed software takes at least a full minute, often longer. Geek Uninstaller does the same thing in a few seconds. This point needs some clarification. Geek Uninstaller does not do the same in a few seconds. What Geek Uninstaller and the majority of all other uninstaller progra...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Be careful... Uninstalr portable found TeamViewer installed (I use only portable versions) - i tried to uninstall it, the computer was restarted (without warning) after some process (deleting in CMD) and didn't start again... I had to restore Windows from a restore point. Be sure to create one! The...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
@jv16: I just want to let you know I find it really impressive that you have done all this by yourself (with some help from ChatGPT ). Your blog post was hilarious, and the software is great, as least from the limited time I had with it. It found some leftover entries that I didn't know exist,...

Re: Uninstalr - Batch uninstall software in Windows
Revo Uninstaller has been my go-to since it does neat stuff like catch those stray registry entries and leftover files from %localappdata% and %appdata%. This is a manual process in Revo after the regular uninstall process, but I like that I am able to control and see what I'm about to delete. In y...
