Re: CalcPad

Unfortunately, I have some bad news. I decided to do a quick test just to see how fast it can evaluate history. It's far too slow. Even 30 small entries are slow to load. At 100 entries it takes around 30 seconds to load. Other than the first 10, I just used the following entry over and over again. ...

Re: CalcPad

How will trash bin be accessed? Will it be cumulative (until cleared manually)? I prefer yes or else we will have access to the last cleared only. From the file menu. It will only save up to so many clears and start deleting the old ones. Did I get that right? Correct. Maybe we can get the best cas...

Re: CalcPad

I think what I"ll likely do is keep the clear function as-is for now. But add two more icons for saving things for later and bringing them up in a window more like the one you envision, which I like. This will give us two files. The clear icon will send things to a trash bin, that you can pull up la...

Re: CalcPad

Both working for me. Thanks! Glad to hear! What do you think of the leading space idea? I am glad you got autoinsert to work, though. Congrats! I think it's a great idea. But now that I have an option for inserting "ans" I think we're good on this. If I am able to, I try to avoid settings that chan...

Re: CalcPad

Thanks for pointing those out. They should be fixed now. I also added two new behaviors. You can double-click on answers to copy them to clipboard There is a new option in math settings for inserting ans before "-" By initial length, you mean an option for when CalcPad starts up, you want to be able...

Re: CalcPad

The official version 1.14 is up. I thought putting "ans" in front of "-" would be easy. But I am having trouble. I can get it to work without using "ans" easily. But right now, for some reason, I am having trouble capturing the "-" key. There is one way I can capture it so far, but Microsoft's code ...

Re: CalcPad

Thanks for the explanation. I suggested auto-inserting "ans" so that the user is aware of the calculation syntax. I was thinking of: Press enter with an operator or function only: 2+7 9 sqrt 3 if you stop after sqrt or if you press enter, it shows 3. If you auto-insert ans it would be ( pipe repres...

Re: CalcPad

I'm a bit confused. Could you give a more detailed example? 1. An option seems like a reasonable solution. Also, if that option is on , you can auto-insert the word "ans" if the user begins the new line with an operand. Using the example above 2. It would also be useful if this logic applied to any...

Re: CalcPad

when restoring the session on startup, put the cursor at the end (to continue after the history) Done. can you make the splash screen optional? I don't believe so. Re: CalcPad

I think this is a great candidate for the database. I'm assuming based on your username that you're the developer? Yes, I am. I made it for my school capstone project. When you close the program Notepad++, it doesn't matter if you've saved the file or not, the content you were working on stays in t...

Re: CalcPad

No changes to your computer are made. Everything is self-contained in the CalcPad folder.

The settings are made portable using PortableSettingsProvider:

CalcPad

CalcPad is a smart notepad that calculates answers based on what you type in. It allows you to type in math expressions, assign variables, define functions, convert units, add units together and much more. There is no enter button, it automatically evaluates everything you type as you type it. You c...
