Re: VirtualDub (video editor)
I don't know if you intended it here, but I need you to get away from the accusatory thing. I'm really sorry if anyone should take it like that. All I did was ask a question and John could have simply replied “No. I wasn’t aware that 64-bit users wouldn’t be able to use 32-bit plugins” or whatever ...

Re: VirtualDub (video editor)
Are you saying you were aware of this but made the decision to give 64-bit users performance over the ability to use 32-bit plugins?JohnTHaller wrote:...that's when the 64-bit version of an app doesn't support 32-bit plugins and there are tons of 32-bit plugins without 64-bit counterparts...

Re: VirtualDub (video editor)
If folks are interested, I could add a setting into VirtualDub Portable to force it to run in 32-bit mode. I switched it to a dual mode app at the request of several users originally. Nothing whatsoever is wrong with a dual-mode app. The real problem is when an app doesn't give me a choice because ...

Re: VirtualDub (video editor)
This is the recommendation from the developer of VirtualDub... It is recommended that you use the 32-bit version unless you have a specific need for 64-bit execution, as the 64-bit version cannot use 32-bit codecs or plugins. [Source: http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ ] Why would someone want to us...

Re: VirtualDub (video editor)
Thank you for starting this topic Midas. That is what I should have done but I'm just not accustomed to commenting in the forums. I'll try to remember to do that in the future. Anyway, good news! joby_toss posted a solution, or rather, a way to make the Portable Apps launcher start the 32-bit applic...

Re: MKVcleaver
I know, but I didn't want to make extraction instructions too long. I understand completely. I think it's just a matter of proper wording. IMHO, you can make the following amendments... "2. Download MKVToolNix 7zip portable package and extract using 7-zip to any folder " "4. On first...

Re: MKVcleaver
I have updated the entry. Thanks, but the instructions still refer to extracting MKVToolNix to "the subfolder mkvtoolnix" . That may either be taken to mean... 1. MKVcleaver automatically creates a subfolder named mkvtoolnix, or 2. The user should create such a subfolder which must be und...

Please update the listing for MKVcleaver ( http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2039 ) 1. You're entitled to your opinion, I suppose, but so am I. This is the last I have to say on this thread.

Re: Restricted Searching
I'm confident it's just a temporary permission issue. Do you really think so? Take into consideration this is the 4th day this has been happening and this is the 4th day that this issue has been raised in the forum and no one in authority has popped in to say something. Me, I am the suspicious type...

Re: Restricted Searching
It's definitely a bug or a temporary setting and it has already been reported: http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=22095 Sorry. My fault for not searching before I post. Anyway, do you really believe a bug would be intelligent enough to produce a nicely worded message li...

Restricted Searching
Just recently, I notice if I try to search the forum and I'm not logged in I get the following message... http://i.imgur.com/a1vYEba.png This is the first that I am encountering this. Why are you doing this? Why are you preventing anyone who isn't a member or logged in, from searching the forum? Are...
